- 0–2 years of experience in performance marketing, digital marketing, analytics, or a related field; internships, co-ops, or project experience are welcome
- Basic familiarity with paid social and/or display platforms (e.g., Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, Reddit, or similar), whether from coursework, certifications, or hands-on experience
- Comfort working with data in tools like Excel/Google Sheets; exposure to SQL or a BI tool (e.g., Looker, Tableau) is a plus, but not required
- Strong quantitative skills and excitement about learning how to interpret performance data (e.g., ROAS, CPA/CAC, CTR, CVR, LTV)
- A curious, problem-solving attitude!
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Marketing Analyst to join Etsy’s Demand Generation team! In this entry-level role, you'll support the execution and optimization of mid and upper-funnel paid social campaigns, ensuring we show the right inventory to the right shoppers at the right time
- You’ll learn how to navigate different types of creative, paid media platforms, and performance data to support campaign builds, QA, reporting, and ongoing optimization
- This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Performance Media Manager, Paid Social & Display on the Performance Social & Display Marketing team. I
- Within Brand Marketing, the Performance Social & Display team focuses on measurable, full-funnel growth through channels like Meta, Pinterest, TikTok, and more
- We fuel Etsy's growth via audience-centric storytelling and media placements. We collaborate closely with partner teams such as Analytics, Product, and Engineering in order to automate and optimize global offsite experiences and programs at scale
- As a team, we value data-driven decision making, experimentation, operational excellence, and cross-functional partnership
- In this role, you'll support the day-to-day management of the mid and upper funnel portion of the paid social platforms that power Etsy's advertising
- You will partner with senior channel owners to learn the ropes of large-scale campaign management, marketing technology, and attribution frameworks while ensuring our daily operations run at peak efficiency
- Assist with building, launching, and QA-ing campaigns across paid social platforms (for example: creative trafficking, catalog updates, audience implementation, and pixel/tag checks)
- Help ensure ads follow Etsy’s naming conventions, UTM standards, and creative/spec guidelines before launch
- Support day-to-day management of large-scale campaigns
- Flag creative or catalog issues (missing images, disapprovals, mismatched categories) and partner with more senior teammates and XFN partners on fixes
- Check platform dashboards and internal trackers to monitor budget pacing, delivery, and key performance metrics
- Surface anomalies (performance spikes/drops, delivery issues, broken links, tracking problems) quickly and assist in root-causing and correcting them
- Research and propose bid and budget adjustments to help ensure campaigns hit efficiency and volume targets
- Assist in creating and updating audience structures, exclusions, and blocklists
- Help set up and track creative and audience tests
- Maintain test logs and help compile simple summaries of results for the broader team
- Pull recurring performance exports from platforms and support creation of simple views or dashboards for weekly readouts
- Help compile slides or notes for internal updates, post-mortems, and leadership-facing report-outs
- Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law
Our take
Created as an alternative to more corporate eCommerce sites, Etsy is a peer-to-peer (P2P) website where users buy and sell handmade crafts, vintage items, art and photography. The online marketplace works similarly to Amazon and eBay, only with an emphasis on unique items rather than mass-produced merchandise.
Since its IPO in 2015, it has managed to hold its own in an increasingly competitive eCommerce industry, including from Amazon's handmade section that launched in 2015. Further, by providing sellers with ownership over pricing and branding, the site is attractive for those wanting to set up a business on an established platform.
However, the seller-side of Etsy is not without problems. A hike in transaction fees and the introduction of mandatory marketing fees for artists with high turnovers created significant discontent amongst sellers. Despite this, Etsy continues to connect artists and consumers, attracting shoppers with its message of extraordinary, handmade and affordable products.
