What the job involves
- Foursquare is looking for a New Business Account Executive to join our team!
- The New Business Sales team at Foursquare is responsible for identifying and closing net new business opportunities across the entire product portfolio. New Business Sales is built to be the engine that drives Foursquare’s next phase of growth, and thus requires a team of highly motivated, results-oriented, and high-integrity Account Executives to support that mission
- The New Business Account Executive (AE) role will be responsible for closing new business deals across channel partners. The AE will report into the Head of Sales and will partner with Account Managers and Customer Success to own growth across a book of business.
- Build expertise and business around media measurement and targeting solutions
- Effectively and consistently develop pipeline and convert new accounts
- Secure attention and investment from Marketers, their agencies and leaders across Measurement, Programmatic and Investment
- Leverage internal FSQ resources to maximize win rates
- Create and run point on new business outreach and liaison with Account Mgmt on established logos running
- Work with cross functional team of Account Managers and Customer Success to win, nurture and build external overall client relationships
- Forecast accurately, using SFDC (CRM system)
- Adhere to ethical standards of personal conduct and business rules, in line with Foursquare’s leadership principles, when making decisions or executing tasks
Our take
Foursquare was originally built as an app to make use of mobile phone GPS to 'check in' at certain locations. Over time, it has transformed from a user location check-in app into a large location platform that provides analytics to several business and consumer products.
Foursquare operates in a crowded market, but by continually innovating, it has managed to successfully fend off competitors. However, with the likes of Google Maps and Facebook Places in the same industry, it will be continually needing to set itself apart. Foursquare shows its appeal, though: major players including Twitter, Uber, Apple Maps, and Airbnb, to name a few, use the platform.
The company has an ambitious goal of bringing "Foursquare Everywhere", with part of its strategy to grow by acquisitions. For example, it acquired Unfolded, a geospatial analytics firm, to help enhance its analysis of location data. Foursquare has also made a deal with social media giant TikTok to provide insight into users' in-store activity to monitor the effectiveness of ads on the video platform, and partnered with Constellation Network to provide insights into restaurant and retail business traffic trends.
