Role
Who you are
- Ability to lead a distributed team, we have team members in Asia, Europe, and North America
- Passion for leading consumer product technology to scale to millions of users
- Python on the server, we use Fastapi
- Databases (MySQL/Postgres/Oracle) - we use Postgres
- API integration – internal and external, Security
- Unit testing, our API has over 90% coverage
- Docker and CI integration experience
- Experience with cloud environments is helpful, we use AWS
- At least 2 years managing a team
- At least 3 years experience as a Python-focused engineer or strong Java background with experience in Python stack
What the job involves
- Attend our distributed standups where the cross-functional team meets to remove blockers
- Do weekly 1:1s with your team
- Own the Backend stack and performance metrics
- Be a Technical mentor for the team and raise the bar for engineering excellence
- Review pull requests, no code is merged without someone else’s approval
- Write code and tests
- Create/review design documents and RFC proposals for significant changes
- Collaborate on slack
- Attend sprint planning and retrospectives
