Who you are

We are currently recruiting for a Software Engineer with a strong programming background, who love to be hands-on and get enjoyment out of solving complex problems
If you like to challenge the status quo and think differently, we would really like you to be a part of our exciting new team
Experience developing across a wide variety of programming languages with an appetite to learn and implement new languages such as ‘Go’
Well-versed in modern development practices including Agile and API Development, AWS Architecture and Serverless
You take pride in your work and delivery quality outputs at every step of a project
You appreciate the bigger picture, you are confident to contribute your ideas to the team on new technologies, solutions, and delivery approaches
You enjoy working in a collaborative environment, working through challenges with colleagues whilst having fun along the way

What the job involves

As a Software Engineer, you will work with Product Owners, SME’s and the rest of the team to deliver excellent and timely customer outcomes through continuous development and delivery
You will use your experience to contribute improvements to development standards and practices to increase the quality and efficiency of delivery
Our Tech Stack – (experience with all of the below is not required)
UI: Typescript, React, Next.Js, HTML / CSS, Docker, GitHub Actions, AWS – CDK, ECS, ALB, VPC
API’s: Go, Rest, CDK. AWS – CDK, Lambda, API Gateway, Dynamo DB, Event Bridge, S3, Serverless and event driven architecture
Platforms: Go, CDK, AWS

With a history that dates back to the founding of Hand in Hand Fire & Life Insurance Society in 1696, Aviva’s current form is thanks to a merger between Norwich Union and CGU plc in the year 2000.

In the wake of a Pensions Dashboard Programme delay in the UK, Aviva is in the running to take over the programme thanks to its pre-existing private systems. This exemplifies Aviva’s renewed focus on the fintech sector, all whilst playing national analyst during the cost of living crisis thanks to its annual Age of Ambiguity study.
