Who you are
- A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience
- 5+ years of relevant product management experience
- Seasoned product manager with a large portfolio of product deliveries, including those of increased complexity and strategic value
- Deep understanding of UX research and knowledge about users
- Ability to contribute to the shaping of user research initiatives through partnership with UX researchers and drive some research efforts with guidance from UX research
- Excellent communicator of product vision and strategy across the company with ability to bring clarity to complex and ambiguous situations through high-level presentation skills
- Ability and experience to collaborate closely with design to deliver intuitive, compelling user experiences and leverage design thinking methodologies to drive discovery and iteration
- Ability to develop a thorough technical knowledge of product and work closely with engineering to ensure feasibility and quality
- Ability to serve as a model for other product managers on technique and business savvy
What the job involves
- As Senior Product Manager, Menu Experience, you will be responsible for evolving and elevating the ordering experience across restaurant, convenience, and grocery experiences, with a special focus on our growing H-E-B Now product line
- You will serve as a strategic partner and user-driven, creative problem solver for product management to leaders across the company and set the domain’s vision and strategy, determine what’s on the roadmap, and support the squad in day-to-day execution of product management
- You will lead a team of native mobile, web, and backend engineers to deliver a differentiated consumer experience as well as maintain the menu-management components of internal tools
- Content, Merchandising, Marketing, and key H-E-B teams will be your partners in ensuring your strategy is well supported and aligned with broader business objectives
- Define and drive vision and strategy for the menus and ordering experience across multiple product lines
- Develop detailed product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business objectives and key results, focusing on next-in-line priorities 6-12 months out
- Manage the product development lifecycle process for menu experience and menu management
- Leverage design thinking and lean principles to deliver as much value and learning as quickly as possible
- Prioritize and manage the squad's product backlog with detailed user stories and acceptance criteria
- Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of impactful product features and projects
- Partner with cross-functional leads across multiple business units to drive key outcomes for the business
- Integrate business analytics and financial insights into product strategy
- Design experiments that allow understanding of outcomes and iteration quickly
- Provide mentorship to product managers, leading by example
Our take
More and more people are looking to get things delivered fast, and businesses are trying to find inventive ways to meet the demand and get people’s purchases to them as quickly as possible. Favor solves this problem, with an on-demand delivery service that depends on “runners” to get products to customers quickly.
Customers can browse on the Favor app and select items from their list or input items from other stores in the delivery zone, and Favor runners will collect the item and deliver it within an hour. While many on-demand delivery services struggle to scale, Favor itself has managed to expand its operations across Texas and into Philadelphia.
A handful of the company's early rivals have since gone out of business, but the company is challenged by deep-pocketed businesses like DoorDash and Uber Eats. That said, its progress so far has been good, and Favor continues to innovate - for example with its B2B “Shop & Deliver” platform.
