Who you are

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; or equivalent related professional experience
  • Preferred 3+ years of progressive audit and/or accounting operations experience, public accounting experience is a plus
  • Proven ability to handle concurrent tasks and deliver against competing priorities
  • Innovative problem solver with ability to recommend solutions to address complex problems
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience building reports with complex formulas and comfortable handling large data sets
  • Strong verbal and written communications

What the job involves

  • We are seeking an innovative and collaborative Senior Financial Operations Analyst to join Expedia Group’s B2B brand
  • You will support the rapid growth of our B2B business, proactively driving continuous improvements in execution
  • You will serve as a trusted advisor, working closely with many teams including Financial Operations, Commercial, Product, Technology, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Audit, and Customer Operations
  • Support implementation efforts of high value business initiatives and strategic partner launches
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team on the design and implementation of effective and efficient financial operations
  • Ensure initiatives and enhancements are delivered with sound financial operation processes and accurate financials by proactively defining the business requirements needed to business owners and partners
  • Liaise with business development teams and partners from the onset of negotiations to understand their needs and implement end to end financial operations and solutions, providing input to ensure timely and successful delivery
  • Gather, document, and deliver business requirements, use cases, and Finance User Acceptance Testing (FUAT) plans to the project team
  • Lead FUAT phases, coordinating, allocating, and reviewing test cases with testers throughout the process

They enable users to access a wide range of services including airline tickets, hotel reservations, car rentals, cruises, vacation packages, and various attractions and services via the world wide web and telephone travel agents. Its primary web businesses include Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Hotwire.com, and Egencia.com.

Between 2021 and 2022, Expedia has been selling and merging a list of its sub-brands in a bid to simplify its operations, including Egencia and Classic Vacations. Due to plummeting share prices, mostly in the case of its sub-brands, Expedia has been leveraging its subsidiaries' customer base and merging them into the company’s core brand. Contrasting this move, Expedia has also been partnering with tech start-ups in a bid to make travel more accessible to underserved groups. Becoming Rentable, a travel company for the disabled is one of 12 startups that are part of Expedia Group’s new Open World Accelerator Programme.

What this indicates is Expedia’s shift from buying other travel companies and a move towards enhancing the experience of its preexisting customer base. This move is aiding in a long-term plan for greater long-term traveler loyalty, utilizing Expedia’s vast amounts of data, not just from reviews, but from check-in, cleanliness, communication, cancelations, etc to inform how guests experience a property.
