Role
Who you are
- This is not your first rodeo - you’ve likely worked in the hedge fund, family office or FinTech space before, and are familiar with advising RIAs, Family Offices, and/or HNW individuals on the purchase of alternative investment products
- 2-4 years’ of direct sales experience both inbound and outbound in financial services, ideally in the hedge fund or family office space
- Series 65 or 7, and Series 3 licenses required or, willing to pass within the first 90 days of employment
- Strong financial experience including but not limited to investment banking, hedge funds, family office, and FinTech
- Experience managing a CRM and sales pipeline
- Strong modeling skills and deep knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint, for sales enablement material creation and modification
- Experience generating pipeline from scratch and taking opportunities from start to finish
- Strong verbal communication and writing skills with in depth experience creating presentations, collateral, and leading sales calls
What the job involves
- Equi is looking for a seasoned Alternative Investments Advisor to help craft and execute our process for investor prospecting and outreach
- You will be largely running the day to day operations of the sales team and be one of the key assets needed to grow our customer base
- Partner with our Marketing and Investment teams, crafting and executing our process for investor prospecting and outreach
- Set up scripts and schedules for cadenced investor contact to close AUM
- Develop and manage investor relationships
- Drive the creation of investor outreach materials while ensuring the collateral is consistent with our existing marketing efforts
- Assist and arrange with set up for investor calls and follow-ups
- Triage and answer questions related to our product and escalate to the Asset Management team where necessary
- Proactively guide investors through our on-boarding process and stay apprised of next steps
- Liaise with Fund Operations team on all hand-off items and ensure all information is transferred in a timely fashion
- Partner with Marketing and Investment teams to create sales enablement collateral needed for investor prospecting and outreach
- Partner with Fund Operations to ensure a smooth and timely hand-off of items related to the investment process
- Partner with Investment team to assist and arrange setting up investor calls and necessary follow-ups
Our take
When investing, individuals tend towards passive indexes of stocks and bonds, but the wealthy elite rely on complex portfolios of alternative investments – which is where they make most of their returns. These portfolios rely on teams of skilled investment professionals and carry large operating expenses, making them inaccessible to the average investor. Equi uses technology to mimic these teams, providing access to portfolios of diverse and typically inaccessible investments for individuals to make the most of their money.
Equi was founded in 2020 in response to the lack of diversified portfolios for the average investor. Its original product still required significant funds, with a minimum investment of $1 million, but the company has reduced this by over half to $350k. With this change, the company now caters for all accredited investors, which represent roughly 1 in 10 households in the US. Its ultimate goal is to present portfolios for all individual investors.
Past funding raised by Equi went towards the reduction in minimum investment, and it can be expected that further rounds would also contribute towards its goal of providing alternative investment access for everyone. Its flagship portfolio boasts an impressive annual target return between 17 and 23% and the company received significant investment over 2022, though only time can tell whether Equi can continue to deliver such high returns across long periods.
