What the job involves
- As a Partner Success Specialist, you will own relationship management with our partners (starting with onboarding) and deepen their relationship with Papaya to increase value
- You will also have the opportunity to help change existing processes and build new processes from scratch
- Similar roles at other companies may be called Account Manager, Customer Success Manager, or Client Manager
- This role is B2B and is distinctly different from customer service
- Onboarding new partners
- When our Sales team closes a deal, you will be responsible for making sure a new partner is properly onboarded
- That means understanding a partner’s business in great detail and working with product and engineering teams to set up technical configurations internally
- Handling partner inquiries + relationship management
- You will need to be able to quickly respond and triage partner questions + escalations on a daily basis
- You will also be responsible for training partners on Papaya tools/systems, conducting strategic business reviews, sending engagement emails, and maintaining a high level of satisfaction
- You will identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities and collaborate with our sales and marketing teams
- Identify Process + Policy Improvements
- You will help improve Papaya’s internal processes to make partner relationship management more efficient
- You will make recommendations on how to improve partner relationship management
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- In addition to the entire Operations team, this person will be working with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Product to ensure the Operations team is consistently delivering high quality and top-notch service
- We are actively launching new product offerings, closing new deals, and improving all facets of our service which requires constant communication with other departments
Our take
Papaya offers an instant payment service for physical bills. Users take a photo of a bill using their mobile phone, and are able to instantly pay using a designated card or bank account.
As consumers become more and more reliant on their mobile devices to manage their lives, Papaya has taken the complexity out of online banking and created a service that can be used on the go. The growth in cashless transactions in the US has been steep, and a variety of fintech startups have launched to capture this demand.
There are other players in the bill payments market, and many are consolidating, such as BillGo, which acquired rival company Prism. Papaya has gained traction through its simplicity and ease of use, but it will need to continue to innovate to avoid losing out to more prominent players in the space. A 2021 partnership with bank technology provider HC3 aims to do just that by allowing customers to pay bank or credit card bills using the Papaya app.
