- APIs - Authentication, REST, JSON
- Databases/Caches - Google Datastore, MemCache, Redis
- DevOps - Google Cloud Platform (App Engine), scaling, logging, error collecting
- Queues - Google Cloud Tasks, Amazon SQS or similar
- Experience writing and maintaining test suites
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience
Desirable
- Familiarity with building and maintaining an OAuth server
- Familiarity with financial/payments technology and money movement concepts
What the job involves
- Design, build, and maintain an API consumed by our customers and internal apps
- Build and maintain important third-party integrations, including bank connectivity and payments execution
- Build and maintain payments and transfer automation – triggers, rules, and execution
- Build and enhance internal and developer tools to manage the lifecycle of payments
- Enhance our payments monitoring, compliance programs, and associated workflows
- Debug production issues in concert with customer support
- Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes
- Be expected to balance immediate business impact with scalability and/or long-term considerations

Its instant payments API enables users to process real-time transfers between bank accounts and cards, all from one simple integration, powering capabilities such as automated balance refills, P2P and instant debit card transfers, and much more.
Astra is used to power a range of financial products including Fold, a bitcoin rewards card, and digital wealth management app unifimoney. With the platform, developers can build fast transfer functionality into new or existing apps in a matter of days, enabling them to better serve their customers with smoother onboarding and a quicker money movement experience.
The company has seen significant funding that will support its rapid expansion, with a particular focus on engineering and compliance. It also intends to extend its payment solutions to sizeable enterprises, as well as expanding its embedded payment capabilities with other fintech infrastructure providers.
