3+ years experience managing sales compensation processes or tools in a Sales or Revenue Operations function
Strong hands-on experience with sales commission software (Xactly, CaptivateIQ, Spiff, etc.)
Excellent Excel/Google Sheets skills for manual commission validation and reporting
Strong attention to detail, with a high bar for data accuracy and compliance
Ability to clearly communicate compensation processes to sales reps and internal stakeholders
Experience working with Salesforce or CRM-integrated comp systems
A proactive mindset and the ability to work independently and cross-functionally

What the job involves

Dbt Labs is hiring a Sales Operations Manager focused on sales compensation to own and scale our sales commission processes and tools
This role sits within our centralized Revenue Operations team and is critical to ensuring our sales team is rewarded accurately, fairly, and on time
You'll take ownership of our commission systems, partner with finance and sales leadership on plan implementation, and ensure smooth execution across all compensation workflows
This role offers the chance to own and shape a mission-critical function in a high-growth company
You'll befocused entirely on compensation at dbt Labs—meaning lots of autonomy, visibility, and room for career growth as we scale
Own the end-to-end administration of our sales compensation platform (e.g., Xactly, CaptivateIQ, or similar)
Work closely with Finance, Sales, and RevOps to implement and maintain compensation plans that align with company goals
Ensure timely and accurate calculation, validation, and payout of monthly/quarterly commissions
Maintain documentation, rules, and audit trails for all compensation-related activities
Respond to inquiries from sales reps and managers around commission calculations and plan structures
Identify process improvements and automation opportunities to increase accuracy and efficiency
Partner with cross-functional teams to support compensation plan rollouts, updates, and change management
Build reporting dashboards to track compensation effectiveness and performance-to-plan

Our take

In 2018, dbt Labs founder Tristan Handy was running an analytics company and created a data build tool (or ‘dbt’) to help transform data for analysis. Fast forward one year and dbt Labs was born, offering its tools to help companies everywhere transform their data workflows.

Raw data comes in myriad forms and dbt Labs’ software allows data specialists to manage the data transformation layer making its use for analysis much easier. It offers consulting services on top of the software, and has ridden a wave of companies embracing digital transformation more as their services and workplaces become more online.

Seen as the defacto standard for modern analytics engineering by many, it reached unicorn status within 2 years of launch and is focusing future efforts on expanding reach more markets outside of the US. Its recent acquisition of Transform, an analytics engineering company, will aid in further developing its product's data transformation capabilities.
