Role
Who you are
- Advanced knowledge of applied cryptography (e.g. HSMs, TPMs) and Key Management Life Cycle (e.g. Key Generation, Storage, Distribution, Backup, Rotation, Revocation, Destruction)
- Deep knowledge of web and browser technologies: Same Origin Policy, XSS, CSRF, HTTP security headers, browser architecture, JavaScript engine internals
- Thorough understanding of network and OS fundamentals: TCP, HTTP, TLS, DNS, Firewalls, WAFs…; DAC/MAC, Sandboxing
- AWS security experience: IAM, Organizations, EC2, VPC..
- Familiarity with static and dynamic analysis concepts and tools
- Advanced knowledge of C/C++, with focus on secure coding, and at least one other language (Python or JS preferred)
- Willingness to get your hands dirty to get things done
- MSc/MEng or equivalent, PhD preferred
What the job involves
- Security Design reviews, both broad product architecture and more minor changes. Includes integration/interaction with Cloud infrastructure (AWS).Security Code reviews
- Designing and documenting the process of integration and deployment of enterprise Hardware Security Module and Key Management
- Conducting assessments of integration with third party software / SaaS, both design and actual implementation
- Overseeing internal and third party security assessments
- In-depth assessment of vulnerability impact, both third party vulnerabilities and product vulnerabilities
- Keeping abreast of and assessing product impact of upcoming technologies (e.g., new web standard or browser behavior changes)
- Assisting compliance and sales teams on technical aspects of regulations / RFPs
- Participating in in-depth technical conversations with customers around security topics
- Creating and reviewing technical material meant for external consumption, both written (blogs, white papers...) and oral (presentations…)
- Developing novel product features in the security space
Our take
Menlo Security takes a “zero trust” approach to computer threats by isolating all of a business’s web browsing and putting it on a remote server. Instead of depending upon software to scan and search for threats, it prevents attacks from ever reaching the system. Browsing activity no longer takes place on the end user’s device, instead, it all happens on a remote cloud service which is operated by the company. This service is the largest secure web gateway in the world.
Menlo Security has focused on protecting businesses from web and email attacks, and its model means that it can be integrated with most popular browsers. A particularly appealing aspect of its service is that it doesn’t require businesses to install new software or change their approach, drastically reducing friction for users and making onboarding a far simpler experience.
Currently used by 8 out of 10 of the world's largest banks and capable of completely stopping up to 90% of threats, Menlo Security is in a strong position. It is still continuing to develop its services, however, most recently building out a range of AI-powered tools to detect and prevent phishing and ransomware attacks. Moves like this seem likely to help keep Menlo Security at the forefront of its sector.
