Role
Who you are
- Minimum of 5 + years of demonstrated experience in People Operations, with a focus on business partnership in a sales organization, preferably in a start-up environment and supporting a global workforce
- Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment with the agility and enthusiasm to adapt quickly, tackle diverse challenges, and contribute effectively to a high-energy team
- Proven Experience creating and implementing strategies that drive organizational effectiveness
- Strong Knowledge and understanding of local legislation as it relates the the US, Canada & LATAM
- Expertise in organizational development, including a strong understanding of talent acquisition, employee engagement and performance management
- Excellent judgement and problem thinking skills
- Proficiency in HR tech stack (preferably Rippling HRIS & Lattice), with the ability to interpret data and drive actionable insights
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with the ability to influence and empower team members at all levels
What the job involves
- As our first People Business Partner at Owner.com you will have the unique opportunity to shape the business partner function of the People Ops team
- In this position, you will play a pivotal role in aligning our People Ops strategies with our business objectives, partnering closely with the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) supporting all go-to-market teams including Business Development, Sales, Revenue Ops, Customer Launch, Partnerships and Growth Marketing
- Embedding yourself into the business, you’ll act as a strategic partner, advisor, and coach to leadership and team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and performance
- Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with go-to-market leadership to understand business needs and develop People Ops strategies that drive organizational effectiveness and support rapid growth
- Talent Acquisition: Partner with our Talent team to attract and hire top talent; develop retention strategies to drive business growth
- Employee Development: Design and implement training programs and career development initiatives that equip team members with the skills necessary for success in their roles and support career advancement
- Performance Management: Partner with leadership, providing guidance on performance management to foster a culture of accountability and recognition
- Culture and Engagement: Champion initiatives that promote Owner’s values and drive positive workplace culture and employee engagement. Gather and analyze employee feedback to drive improvements
- People Ops Analytics: Utilize People Ops metrics and analytics to assess the effectiveness of HR programs and make data-driven decisions that align with business objectives
- Compliance and Policies: Ensure People Ops practices comply with legal regulations in consideration of a global workforce and develop policies that support the business and meet country specific needs

Our take
The Pandemic caused a major upheaval in the US restaurant industry. Smaller operations struggled to stay afloat amidst brick-and-mortar closures, and as the demand for home delivery soared their margins were tightened further by hefty third-party delivery app charges. Add to that the fact that consumers become customers of the delivery app, not the restaurant itself, and it’s a development that has spelt real trouble for independent locales. Owner has set out to level the playing field.
Owner’s platform provides independent restaurants with the infrastructure they need to take control of their business without deferring to third-party apps like GrubHub and Deliveroo. It offers marketing, online ordering, and support solutions to over 1,000 restaurants across the U.S. The company has taken impressive first strides, too: they have a 7 figure run-rate, over 105% monthly revenue retention, and helped restaurants avoid millions in online order platform fees.
It’s a hugely attractive proposition for independent business owners, and research suggests it’s a winning idea for consumers too. Over 60% say they’d prefer to deal with restaurants directly, but historically the infrastructure simply hasn’t been in place to do so. With Owner seeing impressive traction by tripling its customers between 2023 and 2024, it's unsurprising that its 2024 funding is being channelled into engineering and design teams, alongside the development of new tools.
