Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, or a related technical field
- 2+ Years of professional experience in front-end, full-stack, or systems engineering
- Strong proficiency in Rust
- Experience building highly available applications using Kubernetes
- Familiarity with time-series databases such as InfluxDB, Clickhouse, or TimescaleDB
- Familiarity with Cloudflare CDN, AWS EKS, and AWS EC2
- Ability to prioritize, self-direct, and manage multiple projects, with strong communication skills, interacting with multiple stakeholders
- Reliability-focused mindset with an emphasis on creating intuitive and easy-to-use products
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish our mission. Must work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ
Desirable
- Experience using Axum Web
- Experience using Web sockets
- Experience building secure systems under FIPS-140
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Typescript, C#, and Python
- Portfolios or personal websites showcasing your prior work are a plus
What the job involves
- Radiant is seeking a driven Full Stack Software Engineer to build and maintain our data historian and fleet management tool
- In this role, you will be writing performant backend Rust code, collaborating with frontend engineers to develop new features, and working with engineers to create intuitive solutions
- The backend systems you’ll develop will be used by engineers and operators to design, monitor, and analyze the first new reactor design in 50 years
- You will have the opportunity to establish the backend architecture and user experience foundation for production
- Design, develop, and maintain Radiant’s internal data historian using Rust & Axum Web, ensuring data durability and reliability. Work with time-series databases to ensure fast insert and query performance, prioritizing uptime and reliability
- Collaborate with fellow software engineers to build out CLI tooling to enable fast workflows when handling high amounts of time-series data
- Maintain and expand upon testing infrastructure, building out unit/regression/integration tests to ensure releases are performant and bug-free
- Maintain and own critical infrastructure, working closely with our DevOps team to build out monitoring and health checks

Our take
To support the clean energy revolution, Radiant Nuclear is developing a portable, containerised nuclear microreactor. Once launched, it will have the potential to provide power to remote parts of the world or act as a backup supply to vital infrastructure such as hospitals and data centres.
Typically, these backup systems are powered by diesel generators - making them extremely bad for the environment. Radiant's microreactors could allow the replacement of these generators whilst supplying the same critical asset support, enabling a substantial reduction in carbon footprint.
Having completed the design phase of the project, Radiant has taken a step closer towards realising its portable microreactor (known as Kaleidos). On the back of impressive Series D funding, the company intends to test a prototype as early as mid-2026 and has secured considerable funding to support its work towards that goal.
