Role
Who you are
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field
- Foundational understanding of operating systems including macOS, Windows, or Linux (coursework or personal experience counts)
- Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support a diverse, non-technical user base with patience and empathy
- Eagerness to learn, take initiative on Helpdesk tasks, and collaborate effectively with full-time IT team members
Desirable
- Prior Helpdesk, IT support, or customer-facing technical support experience (internship, part-time, or volunteer experience welcome)
- Familiarity with an MDM platform such as Jamf, Intune, or Kandji
- Experience with Google Workspace, Slack, or Zoom administration
- Basic scripting knowledge in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automating routine IT tasks
- Familiarity with identity and access management concepts such as SSO, MFA, and user lifecycle management
- Experience in a regulated environment or awareness of data privacy best practices (HIPAA, PII handling)
What the job involves
- Neuralink is looking for a motivated IT Systems Administrator Intern to serve as a primary point of contact for end-user technical support across our Fremont campus
- In this role, you will focus on Helpdesk T1 and T2 support, handling day-to-day tickets, device troubleshooting, and user onboarding and offboarding — while also having the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from full-time IT Systems Administrators on broader infrastructure and systems projects
- Serve as a first point of contact for T1 and T2 Helpdesk support, triaging and resolving end-user tickets across macOS, Windows, and Linux environments
- Assist with device imaging, configuration, and deployment for new hire onboarding using MDM platforms (e.g., Jamf, Intune, or Kandji)
- Support user onboarding and offboarding processes including account provisioning and deprovisioning in identity platforms (Google Workspace, Okta, or Microsoft Entra)
- Troubleshoot L1 and L2 connectivity issues including Wi-Fi, VPN, and basic VLAN-related problems, escalating to FTE Systems Administrators as needed
- Assist with hardware asset management including inventory tracking, asset tagging, and lifecycle documentation
- Support conference room AV equipment maintenance, including troubleshooting displays, video conferencing systems, and audio hardware
- Create and maintain Helpdesk documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles to support team efficiency and knowledge sharing
- Collaborate with FTE IT Systems Administrators on projects spanning endpoint management, identity and access management, SaaS administration, and security

Neuralink is a company developing ultra-high bandwidth brain-machine interfaces to connect humans and computers. Its primary objective is to help people with paralysis to gain more autonomy in their everyday lives, with the possibility that its tech will be used to enhance the abilities of the wider community further in the future.
For many, brain implants such as those being developed by Neuralink belong firmly in the realm of sci-fi. That said, the idea of interfacing machines with the brain for medical purposes has existed for some time, with examples including cochlear implants and Deep Brain Stimulation. Having secured FDA approval in 2023, Neuralink has since completed human trials, with Elon Musk announcing in 2024 that its first patients are reacting well - a significant step in its ambitious proposals becoming a reality.
The human tests have made the company more appealing to investors, and Neuralink has since raised considerable funds towards advancing its research. It should be noted, though, that despite this positive attention, much discussion surrounding the company regards its animal testing practices, which - some sources say - may have resulted in more animal deaths than necessary as staff were pressured to push for the FDA approval. Despite the ethical debate surrounding Neuralink's practices, its implants seem to be working at their early stages.
