Who you are

  • 2+ years of Outbound SDR experience required
  • 1+ years of closing experience strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in Big Data, Cloud, SaaS, Open Source, or Enterprise IT Solutions is a bonus
  • Consistent track record of success and history of quota attainment in consultative sales environments
  • Outstanding communication skills - written and oral including strong presentation skills

What the job involves

  • As a Cloud Account Executive, you’ll play a pivotal role in Confluent’s Customer Growth go-to-market strategy
  • Responsible for acquiring new Confluent Cloud customers, you're the heart of our new logo sales growth engine
  • The Cloud AE role and Cloud Acquisition Team is a new business sales function focused on landing new Cloud Customers and growing consumption within their accounts
  • As a crucial part of our sales team, you will have access to hot markets, numerous resources, and a diverse set of supportive leaders
  • Proactively prospect, identify, qualify, develop, and close net new logos
  • Grow consumption in PAYG and Commit accounts (ARR)
  • Close business to meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual bookings objectives
  • Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline necessary to hit your sales targets through proactive outbound prospecting, discovery, and qualification
  • Align to an existing sales territory (RSD and AE Team), work collaboratively with your aligned sales territory (RSD and AEs) to drive territory-wide consumption and commit growth
  • Qualify and progress any meetings, signups, and use cases passed from Inbound SDRs
  • Execute outbound sales strategy to drive net new logo wins and incremental consumption in greenfield accounts
  • Nurture existing PAYGs to drive incremental consumption and/or sign a commit
  • Weekly forecasting on pipeline creation, progression, and quarterly sales targets
  • Participate in sales enablement training, including our comprehensive AE Onboarding Program
  • Work closely with the relevant internal partners to drive success (i.e., Legal, SE, Cloud SDRs, etc)

Our take

Confluent is a commercial company built on top of the open-source Apache Kafka project. Confluent and Kafka have developed a streaming data technology that processes massive amounts of information in real-time.

The streaming database technology was developed at LinkedIn as a way of moving massive amounts of messages. The company decided to open-source that tech in 2011, and Confluent launched as the commercial arm in 2014.

While the base open-source component remains available for free download, it doesn’t include the additional tooling the company has built to make it easier for enterprises to use Kafka. Confluent's value add is in those additional tools, including a cloud version of the product and a marketplace for sharing extensions to the platform.

Confluent expanded strategic partnerships with Microsoft and acquired Immerok, and in 2023 expanded its cloud platform. 2024 saw further product expansions with the launch of the Confluent Migration Accelerator, all exemplifying how the company is living up to its name by rocket-boosting the benefits of Apache Kafka integration for companies.
