Who you are

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
2+ years of Java development experience with proficiency in Spring Boot
Experience in microservices architecture and cloud integration (AWS preferred)
Ability to read and understand Go code is a plus
Familiarity with PostgreSQL databases and DevOps tools such as Docker and CI/CD pipelines
Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to work on innovative cloud integration projects
Collaborative mindset with a willingness to work across teams and departments

What the job involves

As a Java Engineer, you’ll focus on building cloud integration solutions that allow our kitchen robots and back-office systems to function seamlessly
Your work will involve backend systems that enable our operators to effortlessly work with our autonomous kitchen cells, guiding them through daily tasks like stock management or hardware configuration
Design and implement Java-based backend services using Spring Boot for cloud integration with robotics systems
Work on projects like stock management and configuration tools, allowing operators to interact efficiently with autonomous technology
Develop backend services that handle communication between the cloud and physical systems
Ensure efficient data handling and process automation for tasks like stock management and order systems
Collaborate with teams to ensure the smooth integration of technology with real-world operations
Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software solutions

Our take

Initially supplying a delivery app for micro kitchens, Circus Group now develops AI-powered autonomous robots for kitchens. The idea is to support the cooking of low-cost, high-quality cuisine while reducing food waste, overhead costs and cooking times.

Founded in Munich, the company has invested in expansion to other German cities - and also into Beijing where it installed over 5000 autonomous kitchen robots in educational institutions.

It continues to secure lucrative partnerships such as with Mercedes-Benz Gastronomie, as well as acquiring the global patent portfolio of a US-based AI robotics company. This sets the company up well to become a real disruptor in the space, and to build on its successes so far.
