Role
Who you are
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in professional, object-oriented software development
- Experience with Python, SQL data warehouses, and no-SQL systems
- Experience building, testing, and supporting major systems in production
- Experience building or maintaining data pipelines or workflows in Palantir Foundry or other enterprise data platforms
Desirable
- Familiarity with Azure or other cloud platforms
- Development experience in Defence, especially ground or airborne sensors (Radars, EO/IR, EW, etc.)
- Modeling & Simulation, including hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop testbeds for algorithm verification
- Familiarity with Agile lifecycle processes including Scrum, Continuous Integration, and Test Driven Development Methodologies
- Experience with 2D and 3D Visualization ideally in defense use cases
- Experience with additional frameworks such as React
What the job involves
- CHAOS is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our team supporting our product engineering
- This is a highly collaborative role which will allow you to wear multiple hats and work very closely with our product
- As a member of our engineering team, you will also have the opportunity to expand your skillset across our product line
- A key aspect of this role will be leveraging Palantir Foundry as CHAOS's internal data operating platform - building, maintaining, and optimizing end-to-end workflows and pipelines that manage sensor, operational, and enterprise data across the company
- You will work across teams to ensure our data infrastructure and workflows are reliable, scalable, and directly enable mission outcomes
- This role will be central to delivering the CHAOS Operating System in Foundry - a unified data backbone that connects engineering, operations, and manufacturing
- Design and build Foundry-based pipelines and workflows, enabling ingestion, transformation, and delivery of data for both engineering and operational users
- Define major parts of our data and backend architecture, including choice of frameworks and systems
- Build and maintain our data infrastructure, real-time data processing, data transportation, and backend services
- Collaborate closely with product, system, software, and hardware engineers to integrate data flows into mission workflows
- Mentor other engineers as the team grows, and work with engineering leadership to define longer term roadmaps
- Work 3+ days per week out of our office in San Francisco (Market Street) or Los Angeles (Hawthorne)

In the face of a highly complex threat landscape, it’s unsurprising that CHAOS has received considerable funding. This will support the company’s commercial growth and product development. It’s also hired a former congressman and ex-CIA veteran as its Chief Strategy Officer, exemplifying its alignment with key defence sectors in the US.
