Role
Who you are
- 7+ years of experience owning and managing products from 0-1 and 1-n in a consumer product business, ideally with experience in mobile and/or subscription-based businesses
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to understand user needs to influence product roadmaps, plans and execution
- Track record of prioritizing and connecting initiatives to broader business priorities
- Experience empowering and motivating a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality, delightful experiences across both web and app
- Can-do attitude with a proven track record of getting things done
- Strong oral and written communication across both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience in direct user testing, A/B and multivariate testing, and data analysis
- You thrive in a startup or other high-ambiguity environment
- Prior experience with user behavior-oriented or habit-forming apps a plus
What the job involves
- As a Principal Product Manager, you’ll partner closely with Research, Design, Engineering, and Marketing to define, own, and drive our product roadmap across our mobile apps and website
- You will deeply understand user segments and needs, and work with the cross-functional team to ideate, design, create, test, launch, and manage products that deliver on Huckleberry’s vision and mission
- Plan, own, prioritize, and execute a product roadmap based on business value and customer impact
- Collaborate with design and research teams to understand customer needs, identify gaps, champion and validate your solutions by leveraging a variety of methods (surveys, user feedback, product analytics, experiments, user testing, etc.)
- Define product requirements, measurable success metrics, and write user stories for new features & initiatives. Manage products and projects from ideation to delivery and iteration
- Own the outcomes of your initiatives by anticipating bottlenecks, iterating quickly, and making tradeoffs to balance the business and customer needs against technical or operational constraints. Communicate your projects’ status and impact on the business on an ongoing basis to the cross-functional leadership team
- Identify, research, evaluate, and recommend opportunities for new experiments, features, and products that would enhance the user experience and drive positive business outcomes
- Expand app usage and engagement by identifying feature gaps and building new features to address them
- Increase free-to-paid customer conversion rates through improvements to our purchase experience and by demonstrating the value of membership to our customers
- Effectively break down the Product Roadmap for Engineering and lead Agile ceremonies for the team, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint demos, and retrospectives
Our take
Global sleep health is in decline, presenting problems for people of all ages but especially for children, and it can be hard for parents to access sleep research in a way that is understandable or can be used in their homes. Huckleberry Labs supplies an app that leverages AI and data science alongside pediatric sleep experts to deliver expert, employable advice to parents.
Founded by parents, the app is primarily a sleep-monitoring system; but it has evolved to include activity tracking and a predictive feature called SweetSpot, which lets parents know optimal nap times given past sleep patterns. Unlike other apps of its sort, Huckleberry is not designed to be monitored continuously. It does not feature competitive aspects such as reward streaks, to avoid all-or-nothing usage and allow parents to feel at ease using the app.
The Huckleberry app is highly rated and has over a million users across 179 countries. The company has raised good levels of funding which are cited to help continue research into categories such as tantrums and screen time, and to hire talent for engineering, marketing, and development teams.
