Who you are

Good experience of writing infrastructure as code (preferably via Terraform)
Good experience of scripting (any language, Python etc)
Good experience of using Containerisation
Great understanding of DevOps principles/practices
Good understanding of software engineering, architecture and technologies
Good understanding of database structures and data warehousing
Excellent knowledge of systems security, VPCs and Networking
Excellent knowledge of scalable and resilient platform engineering
Familiarity with SDLC and agile methodologies
Ability to analyse requirements, problems, and opportunities and architect solutions

What the job involves

Performing configuration of our AWS services (of which we use many - RDS, EC2, OpsWorks, Lambda, S3, SNS, SQS, Kinesis, Elasticsearch, CloudFront, API Gateway, Codebuild - to name but a few)
Design and build platform solutions to support the technical challenges of our software products
Design, implement and optimise CI/CD pipelines and automation
Work to the highest quality & security standards
Follow appropriate modern technologies, processes & practices
Monitor and troubleshoot platform issues, and introduce preventative measures
Promote and facilitate knowledge sharing, by organising and contributing to sharing sessions
Contribute to the definition of tasks, taking into account business goals and team skill sets
Identify improvement opportunities
Mentoring and coaching colleagues

Our take

Electric vehicle adoption has risen dramatically in recent years, but EV infrastructure can still be limiting for drivers. Pod Point solves this problem by making and installing electric charging points in homes and public spaces.

Since its launch, Pod Point has grown to become the UK’s largest provider of electric vehicle chargers, with a number of lucrative partnerships with supermarket chains such as Sainsbury’s, Lidl, and Tesco. Energy giant EDF bought a major stake in the company in 2020, a testament to Pod Point’s viability. Now, the company boasts over 240,000 EV charging points.

The company faces competition from the likes of Chargemaster, but its partnerships, and the backing of EDF, will allow Pod Point to remain a leading player in the EV market.
