Role
Who you are
- Experience in data/fraud prevention/risk analytics
- Proficiency in SQL and the ability to work with large, complex and fragmented datasets
- Machine Learning understanding in a fraud prevention context
- Rules based fraud prevention strategy experience
- Experience with visualisation tools: Looker etc
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and can identify, surface and resolve risks
What the job involves
- Deriving information from Payment Fraud data and providing insights to Fraud strategy and operations
- Using analytics to predict fraud risk and model trends/patterns
- Use data to consistently improve and enhance fraud prevention strategy
- Create reporting and where possible automation to allow the business clear understanding of the payments landscape
- Drive changes to fraud prevention rules and strategy with data-led insights

The experience on Depop is what you'd expect from platforms such as Instagram. The focus on social, creators and influencers has created a very high level of engagement.
Depop was quick to realise the value in power users and has focused efforts there (where people are generating up to $100,000 in annual income for themselves by selling items). The popularity of social platforms making individuals into entrepreneurs will likely attract interest from Instagram and Pinterest. This may pose a challenge for Depop as these competitors will be in a strong position to leverage their networks.
The company has been acquired by Etsy and is now focusing on strategic partnerships in several industries to keep market share flowing in.
