What the job involves
- Over 25 million people use Goodnotes every month to take notes, sketch ideas, and bring their thoughts to life
- We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Toolbar Team, which builds some of the most heavily used user interfaces in the Goodnotes editing experience
- This is a hands-on leadership role where you will act as both the engineering manager and the technical lead, guiding a small team while remaining deeply involved in technical design and implementation
- Lead and support a small team of engineers, providing technical guidance, people management and mentorship
- Act as the technical lead, driving architecture, design decisions, and implementation of complex user interfaces
- Build and evolve toolbars and editing controls that are central to the document editing workflow in Goodnotes
- Develop high-quality UI components using native Apple UI frameworks (UIKit or SwiftUI for iOS, and AppKit for macOS) and web technologies (React and TypeScript)
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering leaders on design, planning, and prioritization
- Maintain a high bar for usability, visual quality, performance, and code maintainability across platforms
- Share your product and technical expertise with the team and help elevate our overall UI craftsmanship

Goodnotes is a digital note-taking tool for handwritten notes and (formerly) paper-based information. Thanks to its signature vector ink engine, the app delivers a precise and natural writing experience.
