Who you are

  • 5+ years of customer facing technical management roles
  • Excellent at presenting, storytelling, and demoing
  • Experience with REST API based & cloud/SaaS solution design
  • Excellent executive communication
  • Self-educated learner. You’ll write more enablement material than you’ll read
  • Finance and/or accounting knowledge is a nice to have
  • We’re looking for someone who is an excellent storyteller, excellent at executive communication, has experience with REST API based & cloud/SaaS solution design, and is interested in learning the nuts and bolts of payment systems, finance processes, and accounting fundamentals

What the job involves

  • In this role you’ll lead and manage a team of sales engineers, providing technical expertise and support to the sales team across Enterprise, Mid-Market and Commercial segments, while also managing the day to day activities of the team
  • Your leadership will be critical to shaping how Modern Treasury goes to market with a highly technical product
  • The Sales Engineering team architects complex solutions for our prospects & customers, builds and delivers compelling demos, collaborates closely with the product team on roadmap and product design, and weaves together business and technical value for executive audiences
  • Recruit, train and mentor Sales Engineers. Set team goals, track performance, and foster a collaborative and innovative team culture
  • Lead the Sales Engineering team in working with customers and prospects to understand their technical challenges and requirements, develop and present technical solutions , troubleshoot complex technical issues and work with our Solutions Architect team to transfer the solution vision to execution
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to close deals, provide technical expertise and support during the sales process
  • Sales Engineering provides critical connective tissue between sales, marketing, product, and engineering. As the head of this team you will strategically shape how this cross functional work is accomplished
  • Develop and execute growth plans that align with Modern Treasury’s strategic vision, identify and pursue new business opportunities, stay up-to-date on the latest payment technologies
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and prospects. Provide ongoing support and ensure customer satisfaction, drive deep customer engagement by influencing the customer's broader payment strategy
  • Day to day, your team will do deep discovery into our prospects/customers’ technical, financial, and operational needs, translating this to help paint the vision of how Modern Treasury can partner to solve their problems and power their business. Typical outputs of the solutions engineering role include architecting detailed solution design documents, and delivering customized demos and presentations.

  • Onboard with our company, sort out your tech and accounts
  • Develop an understanding of our customers and our products
  • Start to listen to customer calls
  • Get to know the product teams
  • During your first six weeks you will:
  • Spend a lot of time reading
  • Build your own application against MT APIs
  • Start to build out solution designs for customers
  • Start to join customer calls, first shadowing, but leading by week six
  • During your first six months you will:
  • Begin diving into sales cycles
  • Become an internal expert on our products, answering questions for every customer facing team
  • Practice your skills by taking commercial prospects from initial design through launch
  • Help craft our story and build out demos
