Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of frontend engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping production applications at scale
- Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript (these are our primary technologies)
- Experience with both GraphQL and REST APIs, including client-side data fetching, caching strategies, and state management
- Comfort leveraging AI-assisted workflows for prototyping, debugging, testing, or documentation, with a clear understanding of their limitations
- Deep understanding of frontend fundamentals: HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, browser APIs, responsive design, and web performance
- Strong knowledge of modern frontend architecture patterns (component design, state management, routing)
- Understanding of web performance optimization, lazy loading, code splitting, and bundle optimization
- Understanding of CSS methodologies and modern styling solutions (CSS Modules, Styled Components, Tailwind, or similar)
- Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows
- Track record of working independently and delivering results with minimal supervision
- Experience at a product company or startup where you've had to figure things out with limited resources
What the job involves
- Our team is made up of 400 people in France, New York, and Singapore, all united by the same ambition: to visibly shake up the global video platform ecosystem
- Design, build, and maintain frontend applications and user interfaces that power various features within our Studio platform
- Work across our technology stack—primarily React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and REST APIs—building responsive, accessible web applications
- Tackle complex technical challenges in video player integration, content management workflows, creator dashboards, and interactive user experiences
- Make pragmatic architectural decisions, balancing technical excellence with creator needs and business objectives
- Produce clear, comprehensive technical specifications that enable seamless collaboration across multiple engineering teams
- Be highly responsive in your communications—answer questions promptly, provide timely updates, and keep stakeholders informed
- Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and learning from others
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code that others can understand and build upon
- Champion engineering best practices including testing, documentation, accessibility, performance optimization, and operational excellence
Our take
It's hard to talk about Dailymotion without mentioning YouTube, but the comparison matters less than it used to. With hundreds of millions of monthly users and a strong presence in Europe, Dailymotion has room to grow without chasing YouTube. Instead, it's leaned into a more differentiated model, one that blends distribution, monetisation, and now creation, offering an alternative in a market crowded with global giants.
This strategy is most visible in Ray, Dailymotion's new in-house ad engine. Ray delivers more precise and more transparent ad performance, giving advertisers a credible option outside walled-garden ecosystems. Its ability to integrate first-part data, contextual targeting, and low-latency delivery puts Dailymotion as not just a video platform, but a rising ad-tech contender at a moment when programmatic video spend keeps accelerating.
Alongside this, the company recently acquired Mojo, further strengthening its shift. With more than 50M downloads, Mojo adds AI-powered creation tools that let users produce, edit, and customize content quickly. Meaning Dailymotion can now support the full creator workflow, helping it attract even more talent and give brands and publishers faster ways to produce personalized videos.
It's not stopping there though, as it's also expanding its reach through Audience Path, a new AI-driven audience intelligence unit built on Ray, and a partnership with Dotscreen brining Dailymotion Pro to Apple TV, Android TV, Samsung, and LG devices. These moves show a company focused not on chasing YouTube, but on building a European alternative defined by strong tech and creator empowerment. The rise of short-form platforms still remain a challenge, but these recent moves sure suggest Dailymotion is shaping a more integrated future for its users.
