Who you are
- You’ll bring 3+ years of hands-on paid media experience, a sharp analytical mindset, a detail-oriented diligence around reporting, clear communication, and an eye for fresh, clever marketing ideas
- Manage end-to-end paid media execution, including budget pacing, bid optimization, ad trafficking, creative iteration, audience segmentation, and adherence to platform best practices
- Use reporting and analytics tools daily to assess campaign performance, uncover insights, and make data-driven optimizations that scale and improve results
- Support the development of channel expansion strategies by leveraging internal analytics, external research, and market intelligence to identify new growth opportunities
- Track, analyze, and report on paid and organic campaign outcomes, distilling insights and recommendations that fuel continuous improvement across both current and future channels
- Develop and own a routine cadence of sharing learnings and actionable insights regularly with Eater leadership
- Stay ahead of industry and digital media trends, proactively bringing forward new ideas, innovation opportunities, and key shifts in the media landscape
- Monitor competitive activity, including onsite and offsite messaging, paid and earned media initiatives, partnerships, and broader marketing efforts
- Keep informed on editorial trends and performance, in order to come up with ways to integrate Eater content and voices into marketing campaigns
What the job involves
- We’re seeking an enthusiastic, results-oriented temporary marketing manager to support Eater’s mobile app
- As a member of the Eater team, you’ll play a key role in overseeing the marketing efforts for the Eater app, both paid and organic, to drive Eater app downloads and engagement
- That includes executing and optimizing paid media campaigns across channels like social, search, Apple app store, and display — with a focus on driving downloads
- It also includes tracking performance of organic marketing efforts, including newsletter placements, organic social efforts, talent collaborations, and other efforts driven by Eater’s own powerful brand and editorial team

Our take
Whilst magazines and newspapers are not as popular as they once were, digital journalism is alive and well. However, many people feel that digital content is becoming less natural and informative, and instead has become focused on sensationalism and ‘click-bait’ as a means of advertising.
Vox Media publishes media across various digital platforms, focussing on providing insightful and informative journalism through storytelling, commentary, and cultural conversation. Whilst the company's editorial networks are meant for entertainment purposes, they do this through a means that increases awareness and interest of affiliate brands.
Marketing through digital publishing is nothing new, but Vox Media has an interesting perspective by producing content that inspires readers to follow up on a brand, rather than suggesting they do. With numerous acquisitions at its back, and substantial investment to play with, the company will doubtless continue to scale its brands and operations.
