Who you are
- The ideal candidate will present a bias for action along with excellent collaboration, problem-solving skills, and a strong sense of ownership
- 2+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience working on cross-functional teams
- Experience working on time-sensitive projects, balancing multiple stakeholder’s needs
Desirable
- Computer Science or similar degree or equivalent experience
- Experience developing containerized, 12-factor applications
- Experience developing SaaS applications using the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform
- Experience with Microservices development using either NodeJS and TypeScript, or GoLang, or Java
- Experience developing with distributed systems development, using an event-based paradigm, queuing or publish-subscribe such as Apache Kafka
- Experience with Ruby, React, Javascript, SQL, and/or Python
- Experience developing applications using Postgresql or equivalent
What the job involves
- We're looking for a Software Engineer that is FE leaning to empower Rula's Partnerships team in developing cutting-edge technology to enable our Partners to have a seamless experience when helping patients interact with Rula
- In this role, you'll engage in the development of high-impact solutions within a cross-functional team
- Your mission is to craft solutions in three main areas: optimizing partnerships enrollment by building tools to enhance site experiences, building and supporting partner integrations, and enhancing analytics into how our partners interact with our systems so we can continually improve them
- Throughout, you’ll apply your expertise and experience to pair with fellow engineers, improve our processes, and foster a culture of engineering excellence
Our take
More than half of adults in the US will be diagnosed with a mental illness during their lifetime, and yet inaccessibility of treatment remains a huge problem. That’s what Rula aims to solve, with its platform that matches users to therapists that are covered by their insurance.
The company, formerly known as Path, is partnered with a number of major health insurers, including UnitedHealthcare and Anthem, making it an accessible service for millions of Americans. It allows users to browse therapists almost instantly, with just a short questionnaire to fill in before their matches are shown.
Though the market for tech services offering mental health provision is an overstuffed one, with giants like BetterHelp as well as newer competitors, Rula's partnerships with insurers set it apart. The business has been steadily growing, and significantly bolstered its executive team in 2023. Its recent rebrand was designed to emphasise its vision to improve not only access to mental health care, but also clinical outcomes.
