Who you are
- 5+ years of B2B product marketing experience in a SaaS, cloud, or enterprise software company, with a focus on data infrastructure, analytics, or cloud-native platforms
- Proven track record of successfully managing and executing go-to-market strategies for technical products
- Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product management, sales, customer success, and technical marketing teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and compelling way
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results with a focus on supporting product adoption and measurable outcomes
Desirable
- In-depth understanding of stream processing technologies, including familiarity with tools like Apache Flink, Apache Kafka, or similar technologies for real-time data streaming
- Knowledge of modern data architectures, real-time analytics, event-driven architectures, and ETL processes is highly desirable
- Familiarity and support of open source technologies and business models
What the job involves
- Confluent is seeking a strategic Senior Product Marketing Manager to lead the marketing efforts for our stream processing portfolio, including Confluent Cloud and Confluent Platform for Apache Flink
- In this role, you will develop and execute high-impact go-to-market strategies to drive awareness, adoption, and revenue growth
- By collaborating with cross-functional teams—including product management, sales and field operations, and growth and marketing—you will craft compelling messaging, enablement resources, and thought leadership that emphasize Apache Flink's essential role in the data streaming ecosystem
- As a Senior PMM, you will play a pivotal role in positioning real-time data processing as a core strength of Confluent's Data Streaming Platform
- Leveraging your expertise in stream processing, cloud-native technologies, and marketing strategy, you will influence product direction, support sales teams, and solidify Apache Flink as a cornerstone of Confluent’s portfolio
- Craft compelling and differentiated positioning, messaging, and value propositions for Confluent's stream processing portfolio, targeting both practitioners and economic buyers
- Define and execute go-to-market strategies, including product launches (both major and minor), demand generation campaigns, and adoption programs
- Collaborate with sales and customer success teams to develop strategies for high-value accounts and key industries
- Guide the creation of high-quality marketing assets, including solution briefs, whitepapers, blogs, videos, and webinars
- Train sales and field teams on the unique benefits and differentiation of Confluent's offerings
- Represent Confluent at conferences, events, and webinars as a subject matter expert, sharing insights and connecting with diverse audiences
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges in the stream processing space
- Partner with product management to inform roadmap decisions and prioritize features that nurture customer value
Our take
Confluent is a commercial company built on top of the open-source Apache Kafka project. Confluent and Kafka have developed a streaming data technology that processes massive amounts of information in real-time.
The streaming database technology was developed at LinkedIn as a way of moving massive amounts of messages. The company decided to open-source that tech in 2011, and Confluent launched as the commercial arm in 2014.
While the base open-source component remains available for free download, it doesn’t include the additional tooling the company has built to make it easier for enterprises to use Kafka. Confluent's value add is in those additional tools, including a cloud version of the product and a marketplace for sharing extensions to the platform.
Confluent expanded strategic partnerships with Microsoft and acquired Immerok, and in 2023 expanded its cloud platform. 2024 saw further product expansions with the launch of the Confluent Migration Accelerator, all exemplifying how the company is living up to its name by rocket-boosting the benefits of Apache Kafka integration for companies.
