Who you are
- Proven experience in business development, sales or account management, ideally within the defence sector (Front Line Command and/or UKStratCom experience)
- Strong understanding of the defence market, including the technological, regulatory, and procurement aspects
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
- Knowledge of the bid/opportunity governance process, eg, Shipley
- Strategic thinker with a proven ability to develop and execute growth strategies
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Willingness to travel as required for client meetings, industry events, and other professional engagements
- Security clearance will be required, levels depending on the role
What the job involves
- The Skyral Business Development team is responsible for realising our company’s ambitious growth goals, breaking into new markets and maintaining relationships with long-term clients
- We are seeking a dynamic Account Manager who will focus on driving growth, and developing long-term relationships with clients, identifying new business opportunities, expanding market share, and ensuring customer satisfaction
- This is a key role in understanding the complex needs of our clients, and crafting tailored solutions that meet these requirements
- Strategic Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities in their market sector. This includes market research, competitive analysis, and strategy development for entering new markets or expanding in existing ones
- Account Management: Manage and nurture relationships with existing clients. This involves regular communication, understanding client needs, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and solutions
- Sales and Negotiation: Lead the negotiation of contracts and agreements with clients and partners. Achieve sales targets by understanding client needs, aligning them with the company’s offerings
- Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with internal teams, including product development, marketing, and project management, to ensure that client requirements are met and projects are delivered successfully
- Market and Customer Insight: Provide insights into market trends and customer needs to guide the development of new products or services. Participate in defence industry events, conferences, and exhibitions to stay updated on market trends and build a professional network
- Compliance and Regulatory Understanding: Ensure all business activities comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and ethical standards specific to the Defence sector, including export controls and security requirements

Skyral, born from Improbable's defence division, launched in late 2023 and quickly delivered its first product for the UK Ministry of Defences. Now operating independently, its core platform, Skyral Shadow powers large-scale simulations across infrastructure and human behavior or mission planning and decision support.
The company is seeing support for its mission too, having received substantial funding in 2025 which will help it expand globally and grow its commercial footprint. With over 60% of work now outside defence, it's rapidly becoming a key player in digital twins across sectors like national security, healthcare, and infrastructure.
