Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience using Python for data-centric programming tasks
- 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering
- Proven experience implementing Large Language Models in data pipelines
- Ability to design new features around data models with accuracy, security, and performance in mind
- Strong ability to process and analyze large volumes of quantitative and qualitative data
- A methodical and analytical mindset with robust problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
What the job involves
- As a Data Engineer at Vetcove, you'll tackle complex data challenges by designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines
- You will be an integral part of our engineering team, responsible for building and optimizing the infrastructure that supports the data flows in and out of our production applications
- In this role, you will also leverage advanced techniques, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI strategies, to programmatically clean and structure data, enabling more efficient data management and analysis
- Design and build infrastructure to efficiently ingest and support billions of records
- Utilize databases such as ClickHouse for high-performance storage and querying of large datasets
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data workflows, including ETL processes
- Assist in integrating external data sources into our analytics team’s enterprise data warehouse (Snowflake) using data orchestrators (like Airflow and Dagster)
- Collaborate closely with backend application engineers to ensure seamless data integration
- Apply LLMs and other AI technologies to automate data cleaning and structuring processes

Whilst some comparison tools do exist for veterinary organizations, existing solutions do not take into account custom negotiations, GPOs, or corporating pricing schemes, limiting the thoroughness of comparisons.
Vetcove provides an online marketplace for veterinary hospital inventory procurement, allowing clinics to reduce ordering times and costs through its free service. The company achieves this by allowing users to link their existing vendor accounts and list their custom pricing arrangements, helping inform a more accurate comparison ecosystem and boost supplier sales, whilst resolving supply chain limitations.
Whilst veterinary organizations already have access to the suppliers provided on Vetcove’s marketplace, the company stands out by integrating custom pricing arrangements into the comparison ecosystem, helping to provide a more holistic and accurate overview of supply chain inventories and costs. Whilst the marketplace is free for veterinary clinics and organizations, the company charges suppliers to be listed.
