Who you are
- Deep Technical Mastery: 12+ years in software engineering with at least 5 years in application software architecture roles
- Domain Expertise: Proven experience designing and scaling mobile and cloud applications, ideally within consumer electronics, IoT, or connected devices industries
- Architectural Excellence: Expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures (AWS/Azure/GCP), and API design. Strong understanding of mobile platforms (iOS/Android) and their integration with cloud services
- AI/ML Awareness: Familiarity with applying AI/ML in consumer-facing applications to drive personalization, automation, or predictive experiences
- Security & Compliance: Strong knowledge of cybersecurity, data privacy, and regulatory standards across global markets
- Execution Track Record: History of delivering high-scale, reliable, and high-performance applications
- Collaborative Leadership: Ability to influence without authority, aligning diverse stakeholders around technical direction
- Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field required; advanced degree preferred

What the job involves
- Reports to: VP, Software Applications
- SharkNinja is seeking a Principal Application Software Architect to serve as the technical authority guiding the design, scalability, and evolution of our application ecosystem across mobile, cloud, and connected devices
- This is a hands-on leadership role for a seasoned architect who can balance visionary platform design with pragmatic execution, ensuring our apps deliver secure, scalable, and seamless experiences that delight millions of global consumers
- As the Principal Architect, you will partner with engineering, product, and design leaders to define technical direction, establish architectural standards, and ensure SharkNinja applications are at the forefront of innovation, reliability, and performance
- Architect the Future
- Define and evolve the end-to-end application architecture for SharkNinja’s mobile and cloud platforms, ensuring they are robust, modular, and designed for scale, security, and global growth
- Technology Leadership
- Act as the senior-most hands-on technical expert for application software. Provide architectural guidance, review designs, and solve complex technical challenges across engineering teams
- Innovation & AI Integration
- Partner with the VP of Software Applications and SVP of Software & AI to embed emerging technologies, including AI/ML and data-driven personalization, into SharkNinja’s applications
- Platform Scalability
- Ensure our applications are designed for resilience, high availability, and seamless integration with IoT devices, cloud services, and third-party platforms
- Standards & Best Practices
- Establish and enforce coding standards, design principles, and architectural patterns. Drive adoption of best-in-class development frameworks, DevOps practices, and security protocols
- Cross-Functional Partnership
- Collaborate with product managers, hardware engineers, industrial designers, and UX teams to deliver applications that integrate beautifully with SharkNinja’s connected products
- Mentorship & Technical Influence
- Mentor senior engineers and architects, raising the technical bar across the organization. Serve as a thought leader and role model for software craftsmanship
- Global Collaboration
- Partner with engineering teams across the U.S., China, and EMEA to ensure consistent architectural integrity and technical alignment worldwide

Consumer demand for new and better home appliances continues to grow. SharkNinja serves this demand by designing and manufacturing innovative home goods and devices. Specifically, it has a growing line of solutions that consist of Shark cleaning and home care products and Ninja kitchen appliances.
SharkNinja has been in operation since 1994, which is testament to the quality and popularity of its products. Since its initial launch in Canada, the company has expanded into the US and the UK. In 2017 SharkNinja was bought by CDH Private Equity for over $1.5 Billion, further proof of its impressive market value. Perhaps more evidence is that it brings in annual revenues of around $4B.
SharkNinja’s main challenge is facing down big-name competitors such as home appliance giant Dyson. In fact, through innovative design, it seized the market-leading spot in traditional vacuums from Dyson and is only second to iRobot in sales of robotic models. A 2023 IPO saw an extra $296 million in funding added to SharkNinja's pot and was followed by product launches in new sectors such as air conditioning and food cooling, indicating that the company is still full of new product ideas.
