Who you are

At least four years experience in consuming, designing and implementing RESTful APIs using Node.js or a similar framework
Solid experience with NodeJS and the React.js and Redux frameworks
Demonstrated skills with HTML5, CSS3 and implementing cross-browser responsive designs
React component libraries like antd, material-UI, or similar
Front-end visualization libraries like D3, Visx, or Plotly.js skills
Experience maintaining relational databases like PostgreSQL in production
CI/CD tools such as Gitlab, Jenkins, Travis or Circle CI
Using version control systems such as git and GitHub
Familiarity with major cloud platforms- AWS, GCP, Azure
Containerization and Docker experience
Experience with serverless solutions like AWS Lambda and AWS SAM
Exposure to caching systems like Redis
Required standing or sitting for several hours straight at a time
Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone and video conferencing for several hours each day

Desirable

Interest in working on a science-focused public health product
Familiarity with prototyping UI features and thinking through API architectures to aid customers in understanding their data in the context of other public health data sources
The desire to be part of an early stage start-up, and comfort with stepping out of traditional role boundaries and managing priorities in a fast-paced environment

What the job involves

We are looking for an experienced senior full-stack software engineer to join us at Biobot
You will work with a talented, cross-functional team to build and improve our customer-facing digital products which are responsible for delivering rich and valuable insights into our customer’s wastewater data
Write, review and maintain code primarily in the JavaScript or TypeScript language and its modern ES6+ syntax and features
Develop applications with React.js and have a deep understanding of its core principles such as components, life cycle methods, and the virtual DOM
Produce robust, secure, modular, and maintainable code
Work with front and back-end developers, data engineers, QA testers and UX/UI designers to ideate through technical solutions and pixel perfect implementation
Help establish internal development best practices and workflows or libraries that help other internal developers be more efficient

Our take

Public health analytics are vital for preventing and tackling some of society's biggest challenges, including disease and opioid addiction. Biobot solves this problem by analyzing waste water.

Biobot's founding team boasts experience in both architecture and science, which has shaped its technology considerably. The company was founded in 2017, and initially focused on the opioid epidemic, collecting wastewater data to give a more accurate insight into the issue. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Biobot saw its technology used for a wider variety of applications. This was a solid test of the company's adaptability and scalability.

Biobot's main challenge will be competing with traditional forms of public health data analysis. However, its approach offers an unbiased and completely anonymized means of monitoring public health, infectious diseases and drug use. This will likely give Biobot an edge as it seeks to expand into new territories.
