Who you are
- Are you passionate about engineering robust solutions and driving quality at scale? Do you get excited about building a quality-first culture and designing systems that catch issues before they happen?
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, with a solid understanding of backend and web application development and testing
- Proven experience designing and implementing robust test infrastructure and pipelines
- Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g. Docker) for test infrastructure provisioning and environment management
- Familiarity with event-based architectures and the unique challenges they present
- Understanding of cloud services (especially AWS) and architecture best practices to provision, manage, test and optimize cloud resources
- A track record of building, maintaining, and extending systems and tooling for test infrastructure, deployment, and environment management
- Please note that our company’s operating language is English, so you will need to be able to work in English
What the job involves
- As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in architecting and maintaining automated testing ecosystems, integrating quality checks into development workflows, and driving technical standards that continuously improve quality across our engineering organization
- In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to shape critical quality processes, build tools that empower engineering teams to ship with confidence, and bring an exceptional experience for our learners on every release
- Build and extend tooling and services to enable automated testing, manage testing complexity and tests at scale
- Architect and integrate quality into CI/CD workflow, developing systems to execute, monitor and track automated tests efficiently
- Improve monitoring and observability across the product by building scripts and tools that analyze and visualize the overall quality status

They include interactive lessons and podcasts - all developed and delivered by professional educators and linguists.
Learning languages online has become big business in recent years, and this has led to a surge of VC investment in the sector. This diversified the field of competition, tripling revenue for smaller rivals like Busuu and driving up engagement on online tutoring sites. It has ramped up pressure on incumbents like Babbel, and its better established (but pricier) competitor Rosetta Stone, to diversify their offerings.
To get there, Babbel has taken a smart cue from live tutoring sites like Preply, which also saw a surge in engagement over recent years. Babbel has launched its own live tuition offering, and additional B2B services, demonstrating a savvy use of its leading position and strong resources to keep a tight grip on its substantial market share.
