Role
Who you are
- An experienced Data Scientist / Business Analyst / Data Analytics Engineer with a strong quantitative background and at least 3 years of relevant experience
- You are not afraid of handling large volumes of data and are able to maintain complex data pipelines
- You’re an SQL Ninja
- Fluent in either R or Python
- You are also skilled in data visualisation tools (Google Data Studio, Tableau, Looker, Power BI etc)
- Proven ability to extract meaning from very big datasets with little engineering support
- Strong focus on deriving actionable business insights from your analyses
- You have strong communication skills and is able to work at a fast pace with business owners, engineers and managers
- An entrepreneurial mindset that enables you to get things done, also if that requires actions outside your own area or comfort zone
- Experience with A/B experimentation and Web tracking/analytics is a plus
What the job involves
- You will be part of the Data Science Insights team, helping us make sense of our data, finding actionable insights and creating self-service opportunities by combining data from multiple sources and working closely together with your colleagues in other departments
- You will work closely with the Customer Experience/ Customer Support and Product teams, and will have the opportunity to own analytics for an entire department, developing a strong relationship with your stakeholders
- On a daily basis, you will be on top of all of Catawiki’s data, which you will use to create a better understanding of our CX operations and process performance, as well as measure impact of Product features
- You will transform the data to create reports and dashboards, as well as identify and implement self-service opportunities to enable the CX team to make decisions at scale
- You will work with cross functional teams to identify user experience improvement opportunities on the intersection of Customer Experience and Product
- You will be part of the Data team where you will also get an opportunity to work on multiple foundational topics, such us enriching and maintaining our data warehouse, developing data accessibility across the entire company or scaling our AB Experimentation program
Our take
In the past, it was only possible to purchase special items such as rare coins, antiques, and vintage cars at auctions held at physical locations. These days, many people prefer online auctions, but whilst they provide a wider range of objects for sale, this comes at the cost of proper pricing and quality control. Catawiki provides an expert-regulated online auctioning marketplace where users can browse and bid for special objects easily via the web or mobile app.
The objects listed on Catawiki are curated, valued, and verified by in-house experts, with over 100,000 objects passing through the marketplace every week. In this approach, the company has combined the community knowledge found at traditional auctions with the benefits of digital auctioning platforms, occupying a space that has long remained empty, and avoiding competition from bidding marketplace giants such as eBay.
Catawiki has received good funding in the past, which contributed to it becoming the success it is today. A recent venture has seen the company expand to serve artisanal artists with its handmade products auction series.
