Branded payments (such as gift cards, mobile call credit, vouchers and prepaid payment cards) have been in operation for decades - but lately have experienced something of a boom. They are an increasingly popular gift, and Recharge.com is a branded payments scaleup that’s taking advantage of this increased interest.
Recharge focus predominantly on partnerships with leading entertainment and telecom giants like Playstation, Netflix, Apple and Orange. They are not the only player in the market, competing with similar businesses as well as North American behemoth Blackhawk Networks.
To gain an edge, Recharge is looking to capture the consumer side of the $3 trillion-valued branded payments market. With consumers more actively involved in branded payments than ever before, this move could very well prove lucrative.
