Who you are
- This role requires someone who is equally proficient in both front and backend domains; you have the technical expertise to evaluate and define API integrations, as well as the user-facing obsession to build great experiences
- The ideal candidate has previously scaled new verticals and business opportunities several times previously, and can leverage their expertise to address Oura’s unique needs
- 10+ years of product management experience, including expertise in B2B/partnership sales, eCommerce, wearables, or healthcare for global companies
- Strong cross-functional partnership and stakeholder management skills; you thrive in gathering inputs from other experts while driving decisions
- Comfort with ambiguity and an innate curiosity to solve complex, ambiguous problems in simple and creative ways
- Proven track record of managing and launching products that have significantly impacted the business
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clarity for all cross-functional stakeholders, and distill complex issues into easy-to-understand narratives
- Confidence in talking with executive leadership, internally and externally
- Deep intuition for user experience and design, as well as strong analytical skills
- Analytical mindset with the ability to gather and interpret data to inform decisions, understand user behavior and measure revenue opportunities/impact
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Staff Product Manager, Commerce Platform to join our team in the U.S. In this role, you will define and execute the product strategy for managing bulk orders —on or off of our owned eCommerce channel
- This includes unlocking new growth opportunities for our areas across healthcare, the military, partnerships, and enterprise sales
- Build the product strategy for our custom Commerce Platform that supports all digital purchases of Oura Rings (on and off of our owned eCommerce site), and closely collaborate with multiple stakeholders to define and continually validate
- Define and execute multiple roadmap projects in-parallel, on-time and within budget
- Build frontend and backend requirements for web tools and new systems that facilitate the sales and management of bulk orders, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products that delight customers and result in significant and measurable business impact
- Successfully partner and lead cross-functional teammates across engineering, design, product management, and stakeholders
- Build and maintain a strong understanding of, and empathy for, Oura’s B2B customers across diverse sectors such as healthcare, the military, sports, and research
- Partner and manage multiple stakeholders across various lines of the business, including C-suite executives; synthesize competing priorities to develop clear lines of action that deliver the highest value for the company
- Determine how to best measure product goals and results
- Ensure that the correct tracking and analytics are in place to track impact
- Help drive a culture of excellence while ensuring a positive and highly collaborative environment for all cross-functional teams
Our take
As smart watches with health and wellbeing monitoring functions are now an everyday norm, Oura is offering similar wearable technology with its series of rings. It’s one of a number of companies gaining serious traction in the market, along with the likes of Circular and Movano.
The company gained an early profile after its collaboration with Gucci which created mainstream publicity and may have given it a leg up on the competition. With the smart ring market forecast to keep growing, Oura certainly finds itself in a promising position as it moves to build out its operations and refine the product.
The bottom line for Oura will be customer satisfaction and demand, which does make its mixed reviews so far a little troubling. That said, the announcement of its new "Circles" social feature, on top of an integration with InsideTracker and acquisition of "wave to pay" company Proxy, all look set to increase the functionality of the ring and could well win more consumers over.
