Role
Who you are
- Extensive experience in Data Engineering, including proficiency with Python and SQL
- Practical experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines, covering batch processing (e.g., with Apache Airflow) and stream processing (e.g., with Apache Kafka and Spark)
- Strong knowledge of the end-to-end data and data engineering lifecycle, including ETL processes, data modelling, and building and managing data warehouses using tools like DBT
- Solid expertise in cloud platforms, with demonstrable experience in AWS being essential. Experience with Azure is highly desirable
- A strong foundational knowledge of Cloud Engineering and DevOps practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (e.g., Terraform), containerisation (e.g., Docker), and CI/CD principles
- An understanding of how to implement and manage scalability, security, and monitoring for data pipelines and cloud infrastructure
- A strong interest in AI and its applications in both a technical and educational setting, as well as enthusiasm for developing curriculum and learning experiences designed to give learners the AI skills they will need
What the job involves
- Running workshops and hands-on sessions focused on Data Engineering & DevOps
- Providing regular 1:1 coaching, feedback and guidance
- Reviewing learner work to track progress and identify growth areas
- Supporting learners emotionally through an intense (and often life-changing) journey
- Working across programmes, building your own practice as a technical educator
- Using educational tools and methods to turn learners into confident, self-directed engineers
- Leading the design, maintenance and iteration of curriculum content
- Preparing course materials and ensuring they meet a high technical and educational standard
- Training coaches on how to deliver your programmes successfully
- Keeping your content aligned with real industry needs, tools and standards (e.g. KSBs)
- Representing your portfolio in conversations with partners and stakeholders
- Attending standups, reporting progress and owning the delivery plan for your products
- Ensuring your portfolio aligns with Makers’ broader curriculum strategy
