Role
Who you are
- You have strong experience writing production code in Go and/or Python
- You're comfortable working with Kubernetes, Docker, and infrastructure-heavy systems
- You enjoy debugging hard problems and know how to profile services, collect traces, configure metrics and use observability tools
- You have experience with Postgres, Redis, and OpenSearch, and you understand the kinds of issues these systems can run into under load
- You understand how modern systems are built to scale and stay reliable
- You can work autonomously and know when to ask for help
- You're comfortable working across the stack when needed (e.g. typescript for frontend, terraform configs, etc)
- You care about security, correctness, and reliability, especially when dealing with customer data
- You do well in fast-moving environments where priorities can change
- You enjoy working in both startup and enterprise environments

What the job involves
- Search Applications builds the platform that gets customer data into Cohere's enterprise AI assistant and makes it usable by agents. We own the ingestion and search systems that keep data fresh, reliable, and searchable — a big part of what makes the product actually useful in real enterprise workflows
- You'll build the core systems that power how AI Assistant (North) accesses and uses customer data, from data pipelines to indexing and retrieval services. The role spans backend engineering, infrastructure, and cross-team product work to make sure the assistant has the right data when it matters
- Build the data ingestion and search platform powering Cohere's AI assistant for enterprises
- Build reliable pipelines that sync, parse, transform, and index customer data for search and AI use
- Write production Go and Python to build backend systems and product features
- Work across teams to make connecting to and using customer data feel seamless in the product
- Partner with researchers and engineers across the stack to improve how data is parsed, retrieved, and used
- Take part in roadmap planning and help figure out the best way to get where we want to go
- Make technical decisions and see them through to production

Its approach has earned it contracts with some big names, like Royal Bank of Canada, Fujitsu, LG, Oracle, and Dell. By focusing on reliability and enterprise adoption rather than viral consumer appeal, Cohere has carved out a strong niche for itself.
This isn't going unnoticed either, as the company recently raised $500M, boosting its valuation to $6.8B, and brought on board top talent from MEta and Uber to strengthen its leadership team. Alongside this, its doubled its annual recurring reveneu to $100M in 2025 and is aiming to hit $200M by year-end. With its North platform for AI agents and a lean cost structure compared with larger rivals, Cohere is very much ready for more growth.
