Who you are
- Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Design, Web Design, or a closely related field
- Minimum Experience: 6 years of progressively responsible experience in product design for consumer-facing products or a related role
- Minimum Skills: Must have 4 years of experience leading design projects for web and mobile products; 2 years of experience prototyping, micro-interactions, utilizing motion, and creating design palettes; 2 years of experience designing a consumer/content-forward app, audio and speaking experiences

- Speakeasy Labs, Inc Is seeking a Product Designer to join our growing team
- This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of language learning
- This IC role will focus on designing innovative AI-driven conversational experiences that redefine how language is taught and learned
- Partnering closely with our CEO, CTO, and cross-functional teams, you'll play a key role in developing product strategy, creating new interactions, and evolving our core product experience
- In this high-impact position, you'll have the chance to design novel experiences across voice, audio, and video interactions — putting your stamp on features and product direction for an app already beloved by users around the world
- Design innovative AI-driven conversational experiences that redefine how language is taught and learned
- Partner closely with the company's CEO, CTO, and cross-functional teams to play a key role in developing product strategy, creating new interactions, and evolving core product experience through design
- Design novel experiences across voice, audio, and video interactions
- Work with teams across product, design, and engineering to prioritize and set the specification for new features to build
- Work directly with engineering teams to ensure a feature gets built, balancing the Product Designer's vision, technical feasibility, and user value
- Design new features all the way from concept to finalized pixels
- Design the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) of new features across platforms, developing and implementing a consistent design language
- Design AI tutoring products and support technical design work across the company as needed
Our take
As the international language of business, there are many incentives for global entrepreneurs to learn English. With over 1.5 billion people actively learning English to improve their job prospects, the customer base for Speak, an AI tutor in the English language, is potentially massive.
Investors believe so too, with tens of millions of dollars raised to fund the company from a range of international firms, including Korean investors and the Silicon Valley-based OpenAI Fund. This surge of capital will help Speak develop its software and open new markets, especially in the US.
Speak is attempting to break into a highly saturated education market, and the success of learning English fluently through its platform is yet to be proven. That being said, it has the potential to become a leading tool specifically in the mobile app sector if it can prove itself as efficient and accessible as the language learning platform Duolingo.
