Who you are
- Proven track record in engineering the test automation frameworks in collaboration with team members or other IT departments including identification, implementation and measurement of efficiencies leveraging automation
- Advanced to expert knowledge with a proven track record in engineering the design, test, and implementation of automation on physical and virtual infrastructure and operating systems
- Proven track record in ensuring current systems architecture and implementation of solutions match organizational standards and work toward continuous improvement
- Advanced to expert skills in collaborating with team members or other IT departments including identification, implementation and measurement of efficiencies leveraging automation
- Expert knowledge of system lifecycles including defining and recommending hardware and firmware end-of-life remediation to leadership
- Advanced skills in designing, testing, and implementing automation for internal processes in Server Builds, Operating System management, Patch Management, and/or Configuration Management on physical and virtual infrastructure and operating systems
- Proficient to advanced knowledge and ability to create and/or modify scripts or code to provide automation, diagnostics, or logging for operational tasks that is standardized on behalf of the department
- Advanced collaboration skills in partnering closely with Operations as Tier III support in trouble-shooting operating systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems
- Proficient to advanced knowledge and proven track record in developing processes and documentation to help increase functionality and efficiency of available infrastructure in Distributed Platforms
- Advanced to expert knowledge and proven track record in engineering the Patch management lifecycle with ability to prepare, curate, stage, test and implement enterprise patching on operating systems
- Advanced knowledge in engineering the operating system management lifecycle in preparing, curating, testing and implementing new operating system images
- Advanced to expert knowledge and ability to partner with Information Security in defining, designing, implementing and supporting Mastercard security policy standards
- Advanced knowledge and proven ability in installing, configuring and maintaining physical and virtual servers in an environment following Mastercard standards
- Advanced collaboration skills in partnering with program teams to define requirements
- Advanced to expert knowledge and proven track record in developing processes and procedural documentation for architecture, design, and functionality of infrastructure in Distributed Platforms
- Advanced skills in creating and maintaining documentation for procedures, configurations, and programs and providing information to external teams
- Proficient to advanced leadership experience growing, mentoring, and motivating a team by instilling a technical process improvement culture within Distributed Platforms in a positive manner
- Proficient to advanced skills in working in an Agile environment to deliver solutions for internal Mastercard customers
- Advanced system administration experience with Linux servers in physical and virtualized environments including building systems with integration to enterprise tools and components
- Ability to write architectural design documents or review design documents
- Knowledge of monitoring systems, capacity planning, and performance optimization across a variety of technologies such as traditional compute environments and on-prem private cloud
- Knowledge and understanding of industry trends and new technologies and ability to apply trends to architectural needs
- Intermediate to advanced experience with automation technologies like Chef, Ansible, Puppet, and/or Shell scripting
- Intermediate to advanced skills coding in Ansible/YAML, Bash, Python, Ruby, or Go
- Advanced written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Advanced skills in problem solving, multitasking, troubleshooting skills and attention to details
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and changing business needs
- Experience working with containerization technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
Desirable
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of compute theory from hardware through serverless abstraction
- Hands on working experience on Dell, HPE, or Cisco server architecture
- Proficiency in programming language such as Python, Perl, Ruby, Go etc. RedHat certification (Architect)
What the job involves
- The Distributed Platform organization at Mastercard is looking for a Lead System Platform Engineer
- The Lead System Platform Engineer will have proven experience architecting, designing, and implementing server-based solutions
- The position includes skills in automation, deployment, and maintaining the lifecycle of the platform
- The Lead Systems Platform Engineer is mostly focused in engineering activities but will also act as escalated support when needed by the Operations team
