Role
Who you are
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and experience in testing applications within containerized environments
- Solid understanding of database systems, architecture, and performance especially in a cloud or Kubernetes context
- Experience in designing and implementing automated test scripts for databases, preferably with knowledge of Postgres, MySQL, or MongoDB
- Experience and proficiency in Linux
- Capability to build and maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines preferably using Jenkins
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and familiarity with programming languages for test automation
- Experience with version control systems like Git
- Experience working in an Agile environment, using a test management tool for defect tracking and test management

- Interest and contributions to the open-source community
- Passion for the evolving landscape of database technologies
- A track record of bringing innovative ideas to the table, contributing to the improvement of testing strategies, automation processes, and overall product quality
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning, staying in touch with the latest trends in quality engineering, cloud, open source, databases, and related technologies
- Experience with Helm charts for Kubernetes deployment and OpenShift OLM for application lifecycle management
- Experienced in Go
What the job involves
- We are looking for a skilled and motivated full-time remote Quality Engineer to join our K8s Operators Team
- As a Quality Engineer, you will be an integral part of ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products
- In this role, you will be part of a distributed engineering team, maintaining and improving the quality of our software products as part of the release process and in an ongoing fashion
- This includes tasks such as analyzing and reporting defects captured by our automated testing frameworks, defining and implementing new test cases, and improving and scaling our testing capabilities and infrastructure
- Building quality into the product in the first place for the Kubernetes Operators for relational and NoSQL databases. Focus on preventing wrong design in the early stages and on automatic testing in CI/CD at a late stage
- Evaluate and improve Percona Operator products and new features based on test plans, discovering product issues & bugs
- Contribute to the DevOps and release management lifecycle, which includes coordinating, testing, and managing Operator releases
- Collaborate with engineers and teams across the company to help deploy and debug Kubernetes Operators to facilitate rapid integration and massive growth
- Research and recommend tools, behaviors, and strategies for improving test and release processes
- Actively participate in architecture/design collaboration and prevent Developers from faulty architecture decisions before code is written
