Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Math, Computer Science, Economics, Business Analytics, Management, or related field
- 6 months as a Marketing Manager, Marketing Intern, or a related occupation
- Must have coursework, advance level coursework, project background, internship experience, or work experience in each of the following:
- Analytics: PS data visualization, statistical analysis, relational database querying, and data cleansing
- Digital marketing: data analysis, MARTECH, SEO, automation, email marketing and CRM
- Sales analytics: at least one sales analytics tool, such as Salesforce, Zoho, Hubspot, or Google Ad Manager
- SQL: Common Table Expressions (CTE’s), JOINs, window functions, date-time manipulation, temporary functions and subqueries
- Excel: pivot tables, data validation tools, charts, conditional formatting, data simulations, VLOOKUP, and XLOOKUP
- Visualization with Tableau/Looker: building dashboards for analytics to self-serve KPIs and Insights
What the job involves
- Produce insights about paid media performance by querying data and generating reports
- Build Roku’s ad measurement solutions for streaming partners, including executing on a wide range of business analytics projects and working with sales to deliver actionable business insights to streaming partners who advertise on Roku
- Work with Roku’s Account Executives and Client Service Team to deliver insight-rich analyses to clients
- Develop new analyses from scratch, leveraging Roku’s first-party data
- Create data-driven thought leadership on a broad range of topics relevant to streaming partners
- Solve problems collaboratively with product, analytics, client service and sales teams
- Present insights and recommendations, as well as build dashboards for analytics and sales to self-serve needed KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and insights
- Up to two days per week telecommuting may be permitted
Our take
According to Nielsen data, the average streamer spends over seven minutes searching for something to watch. Streaming services use customers' viewing history to make suggestions, but these are limited to programs licensed for that particular service.
Roku provides an integrated streaming service that offers TV channels, movies and third-party streaming services, resulting in an all-in-one streaming platform. The service can be accessed through a variety of customized subscription packages and fees.
Roku stands out in the streaming industry by bringing many competitors together in one package. The startup provides further innovative services such as a weekly TV series named 'Roku Recommends' which uses first-party data to recommend essential viewing to users. Alongside funding filmmakers through its "Change Makers Program", Roku also acquired its own original library of shows through its acquisition of now-defunct Quibi's library in 2021. After successful collaborations with TCL and Hisense, the first in-house "Roku Television" was released in 2023, further exemplifying the streaming company's wider ambitions in the media sector.
