Who you are

Ideally at least 2 years professional experience
Some professional functional programming experience
Either a very strong distributed systems background or a healthy amount of full-stack exposure (i.e. experience integrating front and backends directly)
Experience collaborating with Product Managers and UX/UI Designers to build products that solve customer needs

Desirable

Experience with the other parts of our stack (Event-streaming tools, Kube, AWS, Databases)
Relevant domain experience in payments or core banking systems
Experience working with small teams, ideally in fast-paced start-up environments

What the job involves

We are still building out the core banking platform. Day to day you'll be designing, implementing and operating Clojure microservices to handle payments, accounting, compliance and reporting. These sound dry, but involve challenging problems like "design a system that handles 10,000 transactions/s correctly, without failing or dropping writes" and then "Verify the correctness of that system using Jepsen"

Our take

Griffin is working to change the banking world, which they see as exclusive, opaque, and not particularly technology-friendly. Their aim is to lower barriers to entry for fintechs and increase transparency.

To achieve this, they are designing a wholesale bank from the ground up, focusing on the problems their customers face and following steps to solve them.

Griffin is taking a novel approach, offering a bank-as-a-platform model with integrated compliance to allow customers to get their financial products to market quickly and cost-effectively.

Their systems have the capability to move faster than existing banks burdened by legacy tech and provide new opportunities to financial technology firms over a wide range of business models.
