Role
Who you are
- Proven experience working in Database development and/or Data Warehouse development
- Data Architecture design experience - you have successfully contributed to the design of data pipeline management systems
- Advanced SQL with experience using Python in a Senior Data Engineer position
- Proven ability to learn and adapt to new languages and frameworks
- Experience on cloud infrastructure and services for data processing (AWS is preferable)
- Agile development practices
- Expertise in Data and BI Technologies: SQL, Databricks/Snowflake
- Continuous learning and deep interest in technology
What the job involves
- Design and implement any ETL pipelines needed to migrate new clients from existing systems and databases to Digitail’s Architecture
- Execute migrations of new clients from existing systems and databases to Digitail’s - mapping documentation and data engineering best practice into the Data’s team current workflows
- Design and implement new automation, QA or other ETL workflow steps which will improve resilience, reliability and speed of migration
- Design and implement new reporting capability, including the report UI and metrics as well as any data synchronisation requirements to deliver this content
- Review current Data stack and ways of working to optimise for success across our current data products
- Drive efficient ways of working under agile to ensure continuous delivery and prioritised business support is achieved

Our take
The ‘pandemic puppy’ period accelerated the growth of an already upward trend in US pet ownership This means vet visits are on the up too, with bottlenecks, overburdening, and understaffing all common at veterinary practices and animal hospitals. Just like with healthcare, this has led to a number of startups emerging to automate and streamline petcare services with practice management software - and one of them is Digitail.
It offers a fairly standard spread of practice software features, including inventory management, online booking, and smart record keeping. Competitors like Hippo Manager are perhaps more comprehensive in this regard, and better established. But what many lack, and what Digitail may prove especially astute in offering, is a client engagement app.
You have a couple of competitors like Rhapsody and VitusVet doing this too, and the play is smart. Millennials account for nearly 40% of the growing number of pet owners in the US, which means that the nature of customer service in the animal care industry is changing. Younger owners are more likely to expect mobile, app-based interaction, and practices may well then favor management software that bundles in this capability.
