Role
Who you are
- 3+ years direct sales experience with a proven track record for success in a direct sales roles or a quota-carrying retail role
- Ability to quickly build rapport and establish trust and credibility with clients
- Ability to commit to 40 hours per week and occasionally work off-hours as required by clientele
- Self-motivation and drive to achieve results
- Stellar communication skills – both written and verbal; Ability to effectively interface with sophisticated clientele and adapt communication style to suit the target audience
- Proven ability to build lasting relationships with clients and colleagues
- Self-motivated, proactive, dedicated, and results-oriented with a strong ability to work independently in a fast-paced work environment
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills

- Must live and regularly meet with clients in person anywhere within assigned territory

- A satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Ability to travel more than 70% within designated market
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs
Desirable

- Proficiency with technological tools including Salesforce or a CRM of similar caliber and G-suite

What the job involves
- The Single Market Luxury Manager (LM) is a key Outside Sales position and drives both new and repeat business by acquiring consigned items from clients within an assigned territory
- Work to convert marketing generated leads into new clients, and self-generate new business by prospecting new and activating lapsed leads
- Connect with new and established clients to drive consignment activity through daily outreach and in-home appointments

- Leverage strong client relationships to gain referrals for new business
- Procure consigned goods from clients and ship to ecommerce centers on their behalf
- Outreach daily to leads and clients
- Provide an outstanding client experience
- Review contract with clients
- Set pricing expectations through deep knowledge of luxury, while utilizing internal tools and resources
- Partner with Consignor Relations team to proactively resolve client issues or concerns
- Regularly spend more than 70% in the field building client relationships and acquiring consigned items

Also, there have been forward-thinking approaches to customer acquisition and retention such as AI pricing and fake finding. Regardless, as a primarily retail-based company, The RealReal was affected by inflation in 2023 and made a 7% cut to its workforce to reduce operational costs in the first quarter. 2024 Q1 also showed the company to report a loss with an optimistic hope for growth in the following quarters.
