Role
Who you are
- 5+ years professional experience, preferably 2+ years in a product management role managing a B2B data heavy SaaS application
- Technical degree (e.g. EE, CS, Math, Stats) a plus
- Strong knowledge of software development processes
- Knowledge of SQL and data science, data-driven mindset
- Proven ability to plan and manage a long-term product roadmap, lead product initiatives, rapid iteration, and ongoing customer discovery with tangible results
- Recent startup experience; uphold our values & mission; team player
- Excellent communicator and collaborator across technical and non-technical teams
- Willingness to travel
- Ability to speak German to converse with our DACH client base a huge plus
What the job involves
- We’re seeking a Product Manager who is passionate about solving complex problems, pushing boundaries, influencing strategy, and making a strong impact on product execution and quality
- Reporting to the VP of Product, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to shape our platform’s future
- You will focus on developing products that empower retailers to optimize their operations through data-driven decision making, leveraging deep learning and computer vision
- Drive key Focal initiatives, directly influencing strategic product roadmap
- Work closely with the design, engineering and customer success teams on executing the product vision
- Work with the largest retailers in the world on integrating our technology into their operational processes
- Ensure features and bugs are reported and prioritized
- Keep roadmap, progress trackers and documentation up to date and maintained
- Plan, monitor and analyze key metrics for the performance of our models and infrastructure
- Proactively seek a firsthand understanding of issues and areas for improvement for our products, including frequent client interviews and visits
Our take
Even in the largest retailers, inventory systems are usually manual, with staff checking inventory to get an idea of stock numbers, spoilage and other metrics. These are slow and introduce a high degree of human error, as well as being difficult to carry out around shoppers.
Focal Systems leverages a network of low-cost, ruggedized cameras and computer vision to scan a store's shelves automatically, alerting the backroom of the need to restock an area of the store in real time. In a time when retailers are facing staff shortages and supply chain issues, this kind of automation is in high demand, as is evidenced by Focal System's customer base which includes the likes of Walmart, ShopRite and Piggly Wiggly.
Having raised an impressive amount of funding, Focal Systems is doubling down on R&D and expanding its global sales and engineering teams. As more brick-and-mortar retailers begin adopting automated solutions, Focal Systems is in a strong position to continue its growth.
