Who you are
- Practical experience with Python and Git
- Practical experience with relational databases
- Good communication skills in English
- Familiarity with standard engineering best practices (e.g., testing, tooling, CI/CD) is a plus
- Experience with GitHub or GitLab is a plus
- A scientific background (in physics and/or electronics) is a plus
What the job involves
- We are seeking a motivated and talented intern to join our Software Engineering team for a 6-month internship, starting in July/August 2025
- This is a unique opportunity to be at the cutting edge of innovation, where you will contribute to the development of the software that powers Alice & Bob’s quantum computer
- You will work closely with experimental physicists who conduct research on our cat qubits, and your contributions will directly impact Alice & Bob’s ambitious roadmap
- As an intern, you will start by gaining a deep understanding of the code base for our core experimental framework
- You will then be involved in the complete life cycle of a feature—interviewing expert users, understanding their needs, implementing, testing and deploying the feature
- In particular, you will contribute to our data workflow by automating collection, processing, storage, and access to the data produced by our various teams
- Expect to engage in meaningful work within a positive environment that fosters growth and learning!
- Gather and analyze requirements for a feature related to automation within our data pipeline
- Implement the feature while following established engineering best practices
- Test and demonstrate the feature, ensuring it meets the needs of our users

Recognised for its ground-breaking work, Alice & Bob recently received a hefty innovation grant that will support its work moving forwards. Through projects like "Cat Factory," in collaboration with academic partners, the company aims to optimise quantum computation infrastructure, making it more cost-effective and market-ready and ultimately building "the first universal quantum computer”.
