Who you are
- You should be able to flawlessly write a caption, film and edit green-screen takes of a news post for Tik Tok, ideate social-only rubrics with our team of writers, as well as asking talent questions for social video
- A shopping obsessive with a deep passion for service journalism – you’re a compulsive noticer with an eagle eye for detail
- Chronically online with a finger on the pulse of trends, influencers, and relevant voices in the shopping space
- Strong, engaging on-camera presence and writing voice
- Prior experience growing an audience
- Experience making and editing social content across multiple platforms
- Flexible, fast, and collaborative — equally comfortable ideating and executing
- Strong understanding of the Strategist sensibility, tone, and audience
- Strong understanding of analytics and social media trends across platforms
- Confidence in generating ideas
- Experience writing engaging headlines and teasers
- Proficiency in Adobe Suite and Figma or other design platforms
- 2-3 years of experience
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a social editor to help manage the Strategist’s social accounts
- This person will work across social platforms to develop ideas, create written and video content, and represent the brand in a way that feels fresh, culturally aware, and unmistakably us
- They will be the ‘host’ of the Strategist on Instagram, and help guide our readers through the shopping landscape
- Work directly with the Senior Editor on any social and audience needs across social platforms. Responsible for both creating content and posting across social platforms
- Develop, film and edit quick-turn videos and recurring franchises across TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms
- Serve as an on-camera ‘host’ for the Strategist and public-facing voice for our brand’s social storytelling
- Track shopping trends, pitch creative concepts, and help evolve our tone and social identity
- Write and produce smart, engaging copy and visuals that reflect The Strategist’s distinctive tone and perspective
- Collaborate with editorial, art, and social teams on rollout plans for major packages, covers, and sales events
- Identify and track emerging trends, memes, and conversations across the shopping space
- Help build and refine strategies to grow engagement and reach across new and existing platforms
- Be proactive in pitching ideas, testing formats, and finding new ways to make The Strategist’s stories travel
Our take
Whilst magazines and newspapers are not as popular as they once were, digital journalism is alive and well. However, many people feel that digital content is becoming less natural and informative, and instead has become focused on sensationalism and ‘click-bait’ as a means of advertising.
Vox Media publishes media across various digital platforms, focussing on providing insightful and informative journalism through storytelling, commentary, and cultural conversation. Whilst the company's editorial networks are meant for entertainment purposes, they do this through a means that increases awareness and interest of affiliate brands.
Marketing through digital publishing is nothing new, but Vox Media has an interesting perspective by producing content that inspires readers to follow up on a brand, rather than suggesting they do. With numerous acquisitions at its back, and substantial investment to play with, the company will doubtless continue to scale its brands and operations.
