Role
Who you are
- 8+ years of experience delivering complex software systems and solving technical challenges
- Track record of leading software development teams through challenging projects
- Strong backend experience using Python and Flask and/or FastAPI primarily
- Experience with similar tech stacks (e.g., Ruby on Rails, Java, or Node.js) and frameworks (e.g., Django) is a plus
- Frontend experience with frameworks like React/Next.js/Typescript is also appreciated
- You’ve been developing on one of the major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, and/or Azure) and have worked on automated testing and deployment pipelines
- Experience in CI/CD pipelines such as Github Actions, CircleCI, or GitLab CI
- Deep knowledge of different databases like PostgreSQL and/or DynamoDB, including schema design and performance optimization
- Ability to break down complex projects into components or milestones that other engineers can easily pick up
- Motivation to influence our engineering organization to level up the quality, reliability, and performance of the services we ship
- Demonstrated collaboration with co-workers on cross-functional teams
- Experience building consumer-facing applications and internal tools
- Experience with eCommerce and direct-to-consumer transaction systems
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our E-commerce and Partnerships Team!
- In this role, you will primarily use Python, Flask, AWS, Docker, CI/CD, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB.
- Help reshape the world through proactive healthcare while working with cutting-edge technology and high-performing teams with deep expertise - join us to make a difference in people’s lives!
- Be a key part of a team of developers in designing and building software systems with best practices in scalability, reliability, and security
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand and translate business requirements into technical requirements
- Design and build features and functionality delivered on time and within scope
- Ensure code quality and maintainability by doing reviews and establishing coding standards and best practices
- Improve observability of our services and work with our DevOps team to improve performance and reliability
Our take
The quantified self movement is gaining momentum, especially in the health and fitness sector. Wearable health monitors, sleep trackers, and genetic testing have all firmly entered the mainstream, and body MRI scanning service Prenuvo is taking this concept to the next level. Prenuvo’s whole body diagnostic imaging offers customers a comprehensive picture of their body, whilst screening for 500+ major conditions and cancers.
The medical benefits of approaching these diseases proactively, as opposed to reactively, are substantial. Customers will be able to catch warning signs early, meaning treatment is likely to be less invasive, with a higher success rate. Unfortunately North America, like many regions, has yet to make substantial investments in preventative healthcare. This just makes companies like Prenuvo, and the VCs who fund them, increasingly necessary.
This funding, however has been substantial, and having closed a Series A funding round in 2022 Prenuvo has moved swiftly to open new clinics across the United States. Its next step is to improve the accessibility of its service - currently scans cost about $1000, but improvements in the technology and working processes will cut the cost by two thirds or more and greatly expand Prenuvo's addressable market.
