Who you are
- If you are an exceptionally passionate data practitioner who relentlessly follows the latest AI research and thrives on solving complex problems, this is the environment for you
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Science and Machine Learning roles, with a proven track record of deploying models to production in a high-growth Tech/Scale-up environment
- Deep expertise in machine learning fundamentals, including probability, statistics, calculus, and optimization; experience with advanced topics like reinforcement learning or graph neural networks is a plus
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, with mastery of key libraries (PyData stack), and modern data engineering tools(e.g. Databricks, Airflow, MLflow, Langfuse, etc..), paired with rigorous software engineering practices (git, CI/CD, Docker, tests)
- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP)
- Demonstrated experience with LLMs and GenAI, including prompt and context engineering, RAG, advanced inference approaches, agentic approaches, and evaluation strategies
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex insights to non-technical stakeholders; ability to thrive in a scale-up environment, taking ownership and adapting quickly
- Passion for data science, evidenced by continuous learning (e.g., following arXiv papers, attending meet-ups, or contributing to open-source projects)
- Living in the Netherlands and available for a hybrid work model

- As a Senior Data Scientist, you will sit at the very heart of this mission within our Product department
- You will operate in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment
- While you will maintain strong ties and share knowledge with the broader Data & Analytics teams, your day-to-day work will be embedded alongside Product Managers, Software Engineers, and Designers
- Together, you will use advanced Machine Learning and GenAI to improve how millions of travellers discover and experience culture worldwide
- You will have end-to-end ownership of building and deploying solutions, ranging from complex ranking algorithms and personalization engines to highly scalable LLM-powered applications
- Lead the design, architecture, and deployment of robust ML and data science solutions, taking ownership of the full lifecycle from early prototyping to scalable, production-ready MLOps pipelines
- Develop, deploy, and optimize algorithms and models for rankings, recommendations, conversion optimization, and dynamic pricing, balancing pragmatic, efficient solutions with cutting-edge advancements
- Apply large language models (LLMs) and associated strategies, to real-world applications such as entity extraction, automated content generation and automation of various operational processes
- Design, execute, and analyse online experiments (A/B tests) with rigorous statistical methods, to guide hypothesis-driven decisions. Applied knowledge of Causal Inference techniques is a plus
- Act as a strategic partner to Product Managers and business stakeholders; translate ambiguous business challenges into concrete, data-driven technical roadmaps
- Mentor junior team members and uphold high standards (code, deliverables)
- Stay on top of industry trends by experimenting with emerging technologies, separating the wheat from the chaff

Museums and attractions might have had people tolerating lengthy ticket-booth queues in the past, but the rising tide of digital transformation has today’s visitors expecting more. With many museums in particular operating on precarious funding models, they can’t afford to lose visitors, so Tiqet’s simple digital ticketing platform should offer something of a lifeline.
Tiqet’s easy browse-and-buy selection of e-tickets to top locations across the globe has proven especially useful - both for facilitating greater footfall, and for converting visitors to repeat customers with data gathering and analytics. It is this latter point that may prove especially useful: with an increasing proportion of museums' and attractions' revenue coming from gift shops and cafés, rather than ticket sales themselves, they are increasingly pivoting towards a consumer model. Consequently, they will need to keep a tighter finger on the pulse of consumer demand.
What bodes especially well for Tiqet has been a impressive funding round led by travel giant Airbnb, who offered guidance and collaboration to the startup. The company has led digital transformation in a key aspect of the tourism industry, and has made several advantageous partnerships with companies such as Klook and RUNNR.ai.
