Role
Who you are
- Enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program or greater in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field
- Experience modeling solids and surfaces in CAD
- Understanding of 2D drawing layout and GD&T
- Motivation and willingness to learn on the job
- Ability to take ownership of a project, with guidance from the inverter team
- Prior experience in automotive projects is preferred, but not required
- Collegiate teams such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE, EcoCAR, etc
- Hands-on experience working on vehicles
- Knowledge of hybrid / electric vehicle systems and components preferred
- Understanding of basic manufacturing and fabrication processes preferred
- Work authorized in the United States OR ability to obtain J-1/F-1 visa
What the job involves
- We are currently seeking an ambitious engineering student to join our Inverter team
- As an intern, you will have various opportunities to contribute to the design and development of a new electric vehicle inverter
- The primary responsibilities for this position will be creating 2D and 3D CAD of vehicle components and test fixtures, CAE analysis, and developing and executing inverter and component tests
- The role also offers the opportunity to build valuable experience at a fast paced, high growth startup during a critical early product development stage
- Create 2D and 3D CAD using CATIA 3DExperience
- Develop test plans to validate prototype inverter components
- Design test fixtures; overseeing the manufacturing and implementation of the designs
- Design mechanical components for the inverter
- Design enclosures for electrical components
- Gain experience conducting FEA on structural components using industry standard software packages
