Role
Who you are
- Experience designing for consumer-facing mobile apps (React Native, native iOS/Android)
- Strong UX and visual design skills, with the ability to turn complex problems into simple, elegant experiences
- A user-first mindset and a strong product sense — you know when to sweat the details and when to move quickly
- A collaborative approach and clear communication style
- Experience working closely with product and engineering teams to ship real products
- A passion for personal finance, and an interest in banking, investing, or financial planning tools
- For Senior Designers: a track record of shipping high-quality, impactful work end-to-end
- For Staff Designers: experience leading large initiatives, mentoring others, and driving design quality and strategy at a higher level
What the job involves
- Design is a strategic lever at Wealthsimple — we don’t just make things beautiful, we help shape what gets built. We're growing our Product Design team and hiring both Senior and Staff Product Designers across multiple product areas, including Investing, Banking, and more
- Rather than filling a single role, we’re looking for outstanding designers who want to help us define the future of personal finance in Canada. When you apply, we’ll explore where your strengths, experience, and interests align best across our teams
- In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to design thoughtful, high-impact product experiences that empower clients to make smarter financial decisions
- Partner closely with product, engineering, content, and research throughout the entire product development process
- Own the full design stack — from early discovery and prototyping to high-fidelity visuals and micro-interactions
- Conduct research and use data to understand client needs, identify opportunities, and inform design decisions
- Help evolve our design system and scale the product with consistency, craft, and intention
- Raise the bar for quality and clarity — not just in your own work, but across the team

Our take
Wealthsimple is one of a crop of robo-advisors trying to democratize investment management. These companies are disrupting the industry by automating many of the processes involved in investment removing the need for human advisors.
But while other so-called robo-advisors are focused on courting the high end of the market, Wealthsimple is trying to provide the same types of tools and advice to all users, regardless of the amount they have to invest.
Wealthsimple does have higher fees than some other robo-advisors such as Betterment and Charles Schwab. However, the company believes that it provides a more user-friendly platform, tailored to millennials who will be attracted to Wealthsimple due to its ease of use and social impact offerings.
